Watch: Aston Villa keeper gifts Fulham goal from the centre circle

Pick this one out thought…

It was a bad day at the office for Sam Johnstone and Aston Villa in London today, as Fulham capitalised on a terrible gaffe from the goalkeeper to claim all three points at Craven Cottage.

The Villains had been on an impressive seven-game winning streak in the Championship, but found themselves trailing early in the second half after Ryan Sessegnon put The Cottagers in front on 52 minutes.

As Villa chased the game, Johnstone had a free-kick just outside his box with 19 minutes left on the watch. As the keeper looked to launch it into the Fulham half, he got it all wrong and landed it on the toe of Floyd Ayite in the centre circle.

Listening to the cries of “shoot” from the home crowd, the winger did the necessary and smacked it into the net from just inside the Villa half as the despairing Johnstone could only watch it go in.

The 2-0 victory stretched Fulham’s unbeaten run in the league to 10 matches, while Steve Bruce’s men remain third in the Championship table despite the defeat. You can check out Ayite’s wonder strike for yourself below, thanks to Channel 5 Sport:
