Odds slash of Antonio Conte leaving Chelsea this season

Is it too late now to say Sarri?

We have slashed the market on Antonio Conte leaving Chelsea this season, barely a year after guiding the Blues to the Premier League title.

We now make it odds-on that the Italian will NOT take charge of their first game of next season (5/6) – with en vogue Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri favourite to replace him.

A Stamford Bridge return for Carlo Ancelotti is another possibility (15/8), though a special re-run for Jose Mourinho is considered unlikely (66/1).

Conte has cut a frustrated figure this season, often criticising the club’s transfer policy, while being drawn into a childish – yet amusing – war of words with predecessor Mourinho.

Asked about the Italian’s future spokesman Paddy Power said: “Conte has been looking blue this season, and has made no secret of his desire to return to his native Italy.

“If he does, it looks like Roman Abramovich could be making a similar trip – to replace him with another Serie A star, league-leading Napoli’s coach Maurizio Sarri.”
