If you’re wondering why German outfit Mainz have been blowing up your Twitter timeline, then we’ve got you covered.
It was the Bundesliga outfit’s goalkeeper Robin Zentner that shot them to fame Saturday afternoon with a blooper straight out of his predecessor Loris Karius’ school of goalkeeping.
Leading 1-0 away at high-flying Borussia Moenchengladbach, Zentner took a ball into his feet from a back pass and with time on his side, the netminder got his head up.
What Zentner didn’t realise was that the ball had slipped under his touch as he continued to look around for a pass. He then proceeds to kick fresh air in a moment that will have you splitting your sides with laughter.
Luckily for him, he managed to scramble the ball clear, with the help of his defence, and spare himself the ultimate embarrassment of letting in a goal. Mainz were unable to hold on for the win though, as Moenchengladbach netted with just over 20 minutes to go to grab a home draw. Still there’s only one reason this game will live long in the memory banks and you can see it below:
