Lyon (-1.0) v Everton – 6/5
As if things couldn’t get any worse for Everton fans at the moment, now they have to travel to France to watch their side meet a Lyon outfit who’ve rediscovered their form in a big way.
Lyon head into the contest on the back of a four-match winning run and have scored seven goals without reply in their two Ligue 1 games since they won the battle of Goodison Park two weeks ago.
The Toffees’ defensive woes have been well documented this season – they’ve lost four in-a-row and they haven’t even mustered a clean sheet since the 20th of September.
Until Everton get a new manager at the helm (a slimline one if Joey Barton has his way), you just can’t see any light for them at the end of the tunnel, and given that The Toffees have conceded an average of 2.75 goals in their last four outings, we’re going with the (-1.0) handicap on Lyon at 6/5.
Arsenal (-1.0) v Crvena Zvezda – Evens
Despite a few blips at the end of August and a hellish final 20 minutes at Watford, Arsenal’s form this season has actually been pretty impressive.
The Gunners have fired off eight wins in their last nine and boast a perfect record in the Europa League, thanks to a fittingly gorgeous late strike from Olivier Giroud against tonight’s opponents Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) a couple of weeks ago.
Arsene Wenger’s men are also on a hot streak in front of goal in on the continent, as they’ve only failed to find the net in one of their last 26 games in European action.
Even though they’re leading the way in Serbia, Crvena Zvezda clearly struggled with Arsenal’s greater Premier League quality last time out. With that being said – and when you add in The Gunners have scored nine times in their previous three games – we’re also grabbing them on the (-1.0) handicap tonight at Evens.
