Besiktas v Monaco – Cenk Tosun

With Falcao out for the away side, this game is now a little more even than anticipated. For Monaco, the weight of goalscoring will fall on the likes of Stevan Jovetic and Keita Baldé, who are not the most prolific strikers the world has ever seen.

And so we look instead at the home team, particularly Alvaro Negredo and Cenk Tosun. The latter just gets the nod for us due to Negredo’s rather paltry return in his early career in Turkey.

Dortmund v APOEL – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Realistically, neither of these teams is going any further in this competition, but if Dortmund are to stand any chance of nabbing second place, they need a big win here.

They’ll come out all guns blazing, and when it comes to choosing the man who might break the deadlock for the Germans, there’s no looking past their wonderful Gabonese centre forward.

Liverpool v Maribor – Daniel Sturridge

Last week, we learned that Maribor are not very good at football. This week, we expect Liverpool to put at least four goals past them, so it’s just a matter of which Reds player will do the damage early on.

Klopp will rotate his team slightly, and it’s likely that Daniel Sturridge will start. Who better than an archetypal flat-track bully to open the scoring against a dreadful Slovenian side?

Napoli v Man City – Gabriel Jesus

Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli are likely to go at City in the San Paolo tonight, meaning there could well be plenty of gaps opening up at the back. The English side boast a wealth of attacking talent, and they should be well placed to exploit this.

We’ve gone for Gabriel Jesus just ahead of Sergio Aguero.

Sevilla v Spartak Moscow – Wissam Ben Yedder

Spartak have shown themselves to be a better side than they were initially given credit for, but Sevilla are a daunting proposition at home. We expect the Spanish team to emerge victorious, and Ben Yedder is beginning to emerge as one of the finest forwards in La Liga.

He is the man most capable of opening the score tonight.

Tottenham v Real Madrid – Harry Kane

Of all tonight’s matches, this is perhaps the most difficult to call.

Real are stumbling slightly, and only managed a draw at home to Spurs, so although one might have previously expected them to wipe the floor with the English side, that’s no longer the case.

With home advantage, Spurs could well bag a win here, and who else to net them the first goal but their one truly world-class player?
