Axe-inha! Rangers dismiss Pedro, Billy Davies favourite to replace him

The money says the ex-Derby boss could be set for one of Scotland’s top jobs…

With news breaking from Ibrox that Pedro Caixinha has been dismissed, we have installed former Gers player Billy Davies as the favourite to succeed him at 4/1.

We’ve slashed the odds on Davies getting the job in recent days, after a series of bets in the Glasgow area, which has seen him leapfrog striker Kenny Miller (7/1) in the betting.

Meanwhile, Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes sits between the two in the market at 11/2.

While a popular, but shock, return for Alex McLeish is seen as more of a long-shot (15/2) – likewise, current Scotland interim coach Malky Mackay is a 14/1 punt.

Asked about the next Rangers gaffer spokesman Paddy Power said: “The clue’s in the name, Pedro – it sounds like time for the axe.

“After a lack of Progres in Europe, and not exactly performing well in the cup over the weekend, it was obviously time to Ped-go for the Portuguese.

“Billy Davies has been pointing to various conspiracy theories as to why he’s missed out on other gigs recently, so he should fit in perfectly at Ibrox.”
