One UK punter is celebrating a huge win this morning after taking us for over £20k on a £1 gamble thanks to a 19-leg accumulator landing.
Our winner – who is in his 30s and hails from Bedfordshire – landed the loot after placing an acca on a whole host of football action in Tuesday night’s games, betting on both teams to score in seven Champions League ties, eight matches in League 1 and four League 2 games.
Of course, he needed a lot of luck along the way to scoop the £20,402, but let’s tell you how he did it.
Firstly, he went in two-footed on the Champions League, picking both teams to hit the net in seven of the eight matches – even bravely backing Cypriot minnows APOEL Nicosia to score against German giants Borussia Dortmund.
He also tactically avoided adding the Maribor v Liverpool tie into his slip, as the Reds trounced the Slovenians 7-0 away from home – a result that would have killed off his acca.
Next on the chopping block for our victor was an excellent eight matches in League 1 and Wigan’s Sam Morsy is a name he won’t forget in a hurry. The Latics’ skipper popped up with an 82nd minute equaliser leaving him needing just one more strike to bring home the money.
Three minutes later, he reached the promised land. In the 85th minute Barnet’s Shaquile Coulthirst sealed the deal with a late leveller against Mansfield Town.
That goal beat the 20,000/1 odds our punter needed on his £1 bet and no doubt he was some smug little Cheshire cat after that.
