WATCH: Utterly atrocious keeping blunder sparks pitch invasion in Tanzania

We’ve all seen keepers do it.

Intent on playing out time towards the end of a match, a custodian declines to pick up the ball after receiving possession from an opponent’s play. Instead, he or she allows a member of the opposing team to approach and, once that player closes in, the keeper then scoops the ball off the ground.

It’s a classic time-wasting tactic. An easy way to buy your side a few seconds’ respite without breaching any laws of the game or risking a booking.

But sometimes, it can go wrong, as this poor lad found out during an Ndondo Cup match in Tanzania between Misosi and Goms FC.
