Sheet the bed – Paddy Power reward punters who backed hapless Akinfeev

Paddy is rewarding punters who believe Igor can keep his sheets clean for one night

When’s the last time you changed your bedsheets? You filthy animal.

But that’s nothing on CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev – who hasn’t kept a clean sheet in the Champions League proper since 1st November, 2006.

That’s almost 11 years, the filthy bugger. Which should be a good omen for Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United side this evening.

And, yes, please note the use of the word ‘proper’ – Akinfeev has kept clean sheets in the qualifying stages, but we’re not counting that. I could go in goal for those games, and they’d still get through.

It’s been 41 games since he’s kept a clean sheet in the actual Champions League, although that was against English opposition – a 0-0 draw with Arsenal.

Still, you’d be pretty optimistic to back him not to s**t the bed when he’s faced with the likes of Lukaku, Rashford and Martial tonight.

And that’s exactly the kind of optimism we like here at Paddy Power. So, for anyone who has backed Akinfeev to break his decade-long drought, we’re offering you the chance to win your very own clean sheets – and be the envy of Russian goalkeepers everywhere (or at least in Moscow).

The designer – designed by a Monsieur P Power – sheets are available to the first fifty punters who email their bet receipt and address to youbeauty@paddypower.com, and would look something like this (cheap hotel fittings not included):

Applies to single bets (minimum £1 stake) on all correct score markets with CSKA not conceding, CSKA to win to nil, and the ‘Akinfeev to keep a clean sheet’ Power Price.

Free sheets are available for the first 50 customers located in the UK or Republic or Ireland only, who email their bet receipt and address to youbeauty@paddypower.com. Prize is a size Double duvet and includes free delivery in UK/Ireland. Paddy Power’s decision is final. Relates to all bets placed before 6pm on 27/09/2017. See paddypower.com for full terms and conditions.
