Hammer Time: Five of the worst Joe Hart blunders ahead of West Ham move

With a move to the London Stadium on the cards, Irons fans better prepare for a clanger or two…

West Ham United look head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to the signing of England number one Joe Hart ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

Having been shipped off to Italy like a bad batch of Bolognese sauce by Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City stopper looks to be on his way to the Irons, and he’s reportedly undergoing a medical at the club today.

Despite some brilliant performances over the years, Joe is also unfortunately known for giving his fans some, shall we say, Hart-stopping moments between the sticks.

So, in no particular order, here’s five of Hart’s most memorable blunders from throughout his career. West Ham fans, you might want to look away now…

2017: v Inter Milan

Seriously, only Jersey Shore’s ill-fated season in Florence has an argument for beating Hart’s loan stint at Torino for the worst Italian misadventure. To be honest, he looked more out of place than a Greggs at the foot of the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Serie A.

We could have picked one of a number of booboos from his time there, but we’ve gone with this beauty from his visit to the San Siro last March.

2016: v Iceland

Yep, that game again! For England fans, the only thing more painful than that fateful day in Nice is reliving Hart’s shot-stopping efforts from the entire Euro 2016 tournament.

This error was probably the worst of the lot. And that’s saying something.

2013: v West Ham

People have a short memory in football, but this might dampen the euphoria of Hammers fans when they recall this blooper that they actually jeered him for.

Luckily, Hart’s failure to close his legs on an Andy Carroll shot didn’t end up costing Man City three points on the day. Still, it sure is funny to look at!

2012: v Sweden

Any reason to bring this back up again is valid, and maybe we should actually thank Joe for his part in one of the greatest goals of all time from Zlatan Ibrahimovic. But what was he doing with that header?

2011: v Switzerland

If there was an exam to pass in order to graduate from ‘keeping school, than Hart must have been missing the day they learned the basics of guarding your near post.

He gets a big, fat ‘F’ from us for this one.
