Watch: Aston Villa player sees red for ‘headbutting’ linesman

To make matters even weirder, they were winning at the time…

Aston Villa midfielder Leandro Bacuna has landed himself in a whole heap of trouble after allegedly headbutting a linesman today.

The incident, for which Bacuna understandably sent off, happened in the 94th minute of Villa’s much needed 1-0 home victory in the Championship over Derby County.

Steve Bruce’s men held on manfully to the lead centre half James Chester gave them in the 25th minute to arrest a slide of five defeats in-a-row, but it was Bacuna’s bizarre incident that had everybody talking after the game.

Disputing a late throw in late in the contest, Bacuna can be seen charging towards the linesman before bumping into him. Various angles (that we’ll present you below) clearly show contact between the Villa midfielder’s head and that of the linesman.

Referee Andy Madley wasted no time in producing a red card for the Dutchman and you can expect a lengthy bad to follow from the FA. You can watch a couple of angles of the crazy episode below:
