Don’t put them in your acca: 5 Teams that get stuffed on Boxing Day

We've delved into the Premier league history books to reveal the teams with the worst Boxing Day record over the last 20 years.

Whether you call it Stephen’s Day or Boxing Day, there’s no doubt it’s a great day to be a sports fan. There’s racing in Leopardstown and Kempton and a huge day of action in the Premier League. But, it seems some people find the the day after Christmas a but of a slog. We’ve delved into the Premier league history books to reveal the teams with the worst Boxing Day record over the last 20 years.

Leicester P20 W2 D5 L13

Claudio Ranieri’s man take on Everton and are 6/4 to break their Christmas spell when they take on Everton at home.

West Brom P20 W2 D6 L12

The Baggies don’t seem to enjoy Stephens’ Day/Boxing Day with only two wins in their last 20 games on the day after Christmas. They travel to the Emirates and are 9/1 to beat Arsenal.

Newcastle P20 W4 D4 L12

The majority of Newcastle’s 12 loses on the 26th occurred during Premier League games, they are flying high in the Championship and are 4/7 favs to beat Sheffield Wednesday.

Aston Villa P20 W3 D5 L12

They’ve won an away game this season so anything is possible. The Villains should be able to improve their record at home to Burton Albion this year.

Southampton P20 W5 D7 L8

Luckily for the Saints their fixture, home to Spurs, has been selected for TV and thus moved to the 28th. Is that an omen? Probably not. You can get them at 19/10 if you foresee a reversal of festive fortunes.

In case you were wondering, Man United have the best record on Boxing Day with 18 wins in their last 20 games.
