Oh, football. Manchester City players are currently receiving a spanking on Twitter after wearing shirts in tribute to Gundogan, who picked up an injury against Watford in the midweek fixtures.
The German midfielder is expected to miss the rest of the season with a cruciate injury. Presumably paying their respects, his fellow teammates wore “Gundogan 8” shirts in the tunnel ahead of their crunch match at home to Arsenal.

The back-to-front shirts quickly picked up a reaction on Twitter, with many rival fans questioning whether the player had actually died.
Here’s a selection of some of the best reactions:
Gundogan has passed way. RIP u will live on forever. Cant believe it. I wanna run to u. Really cant believe this. @

“F*cking hell, try some f*cking defending”, says İlkay Gündoğan, looking down from the pearly gates of heaven. May he rest in peace.

Liam Gallagher will be performing a poignant version of Candle In The Wind at half time, in memory of the sadly deceased İlkay Gündoğan.

City looking good now. Hope Gundogan didn’t decide to fuck off and take Cecil for a walk at half time, he’ll be missing a great recovery.
