92nd minute goal sees plucky punter take home £33k on two £10 bets

See how one crafty customer beat all the odds to land a wager of a lifetime

One Paddy punter is laughing all the way to the bank this morning after landing not one, but two mega-wagers on yesterday’s football.

The customer from Halifax, West Yorkshire took us to the cleaners with two £10 accumulators – one a six-fold and the other a five-fold – to net himself just over £33,000.

Firstly, he managed to beat over 2,500/1 odds to grab himself £25,894 after correctly predicting both teams to score and the winners of six games. He then made an almost identical bet, only removing a single leg, to smash a 700/1 shot as well!

But, there’s one man our punter will be bowing down to this morning and that’s Sheffield Wednesday’s Steven Fletcher. That’s because the Scot netted a 92nd minute consolation in his side’s 2-1 loss to promotion rivals Reading, which brought home the bacon on both bets.

Let’s tell you how he did it…

Arsenal win v Stoke & both teams to score

You’d have thought with The Gunners being massive favourites for yesterday’s contest that this bet could have been slightly dodgy, but our clever customer spotting that Arsene Wenger’s outfit had conceded in each of their last nine previous games. Charlie Adam’s early penalty made it 10 in-a-row and when Arsenal answered with three strikes on the spin, our hero was on his way.

Huddersfield Town win v Bristol City & both teams to score

This was perhaps the bravest bet of the winning acca as the Terriers had been without a win in five Championship outings up to yesterday. However, they moved themselves back into fourth in the table thanks to goals from Elias Kachunga and a winner from Nahki Wells coming after Bristol’s Tammy Abraham had levelled matters in the 32nd minute.

Bristol Rovers win v Bury & both teams to score

After backing against one Bristol outfit our big winner decided not to make it both and went for Rovers to do the business against Bury at the Memorial Stadium. His confidence was proved right when they ran out 4-2 home victors, with four different scorers as well!

Fleetwood win v Walsall & both teams to score

Staying in League One, Fleetwood did their part on the betslip by taking down Walsall 2-1. Walsall scored their consolation with 14 minutes left on the watch and it stayed that way until the final whistle to bring up four of the six legs.

Reading win v Sheffield Wednesday & both teams to score

As we explained above, this is the contest that would have given our punter the most nightmares as a brace of strikes from Roy Beerens gave the Royals a 2-0 lead that they’d carry into the 90th minute. He needn’t have feared though, as a 92nd minute header from Steven Fletcher brought his bet back to life with just seconds remaining on the referee’s watch.

Real Sociedad win v Valencia & both teams to score

With all his bets on English football safety landed, our winner then faced an anxious 15 minutes as this contest in La Liga kicked-off a quarter of an hour later than his other fixtures. He already had over £7,000 in the bag as the above games made up his five-fold, but this game was where the bulk of his cash was on the line. He’d have thanked his likely stars when Juanmi made it 3-1 to home side in the 90th minute, because just seconds later Zakaria Bakkali popped up to score for Valencia to end the contest 3-2.

That result alone added more than £25,000 to the coffers for the man from Halifax bringing his total to a whopping £33,086, and more importantly see him gain a spot in the coveted Paddy Power Hall of Fame. What a Saturday eh!
