Opti-Missed-It: Paddy Power pays out to five punters who backed Swansea 4-4 Crystal Palace at 275/1

The rollercoaster game at the Liberty Stadium ended 5-4, but Paddy Power have paid out on five optimistic 275/1 punts anyway

Caught your breath yet? On Saturday afternoon we had a rollercoaster ride in Wales as Swansea played out a nine-goal thriller against Crystal Palace. There were five Paddy Power punters who were on for a big win until Fernando Llorente’s 93rd minute winner – but luckily for them, we’ve got their back and rewarded their optimism by paying out.

Wilfried Zaha opened the scoring for Alan Pardew’s men, but Gylfi Sigurdsson hit back before the break to send the teams into half-time level at 1-1. All fairly normal so far, right? Leroy Fer banged in a 2 minute brace with 25 minutes left to put the home side 3-1 ahead and it all looked like plain sailing. It also meant that any punters who backed Swansea to win the match were instantly paid out courtesy of our new 2 Up You Win offer which you can read more about here.

However Palace had other ideas and James Tomkins pulled one back in 75 minutes, before Jack Cork turned into his own net with eight minutes left to level the game at 3-3.

Less than two minutes later and Christian Benteke had put Palace 4-3 ahead giving Alan Pardew even more reason to pull out some dad-dancing. But Palace switched off, and on 90 minutes substitute Fernando Llorente equalised, making it 4-4 and delighting five Paddy Power punters who had the guts to back 4-4 at odds of 275/1.

But heartbreak was just 180 seconds away as Llorente won the tie for Swansea in the 93rd minute – costing our five plucky punters a big payday. Or so they thought.

Paddy Power can’t bear to see such optimism go unrewarded, so we’ve paid out on the 4-4 as a winner giving each punter the perfect excuse to dance the night away this evening. You Beauty! The punter’s locations, bets and winnings are below:

  • One punter in Leicester. £2 stake returned £552
  • One punter in Maidenhead. £1 stake returned £276
  • One punter in Lancashire. £1 stake returned £276
  • One punter in Offaly. 50c stake returned £138
  • One punter in West Yorkshire. 10p stake returned £27.60

Not bad for a losing bet! Well played gents.
