Reliving Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s ridiculous bicycle kick against England, four years ago today

We relive one of the greatest goals in football

Comments

Four years ago today, Zlatan scored one of the best goals we have ever seen in football. A goal the Swedish striker describes as the best of his career, where he has found the net 400 times.

The ridiculous strike came in Sweden’s 4-2 victory over England in an international friendly. Ibrahimović scored all four goals (of course he did) but saved the best for last.

Just as the England faithful began serenading the Swede with “you’re just a shit Andy Carroll”, he notched his game up a gear, bagging three in the last 15 minutes. The final one was to be a certified classic. A belief-defier. It pretty much ended Joe Hart’s career.

When asked by United Review which goal was the best of his career, he said: “That’s easy. The one against England.”

It stunned the Three Lions into silence, and bar the ponytail, was in no way Carroll-esque. To quote Alan Partridge: Needless to say, he had the last laugh.
