Next Club Odds: Wayne Rooney set for a Galaxy far, far away…

The latest odds on the Manchester United captain's next club, after Jose Mourinho tells him he is free to leave...

Comments

Rooney’s form has been patchier than his hair in recent months and after being overlooked by Mourinho for much of the season, not making a start in four games, a lucrative move abroad looks on the cards.

After 12 years on the clubs books, with 246 goals he is just three away from equaling Sir Bobby Charlton’s all-time goal-scoring record. However, reports suggest that Mourinho has told the club captain he is free to leave if he expects regular football.

LA Galaxy – 11/4

Unsurprisingly LA Galaxy – a club that has proved a popular destination for ageing Premier League stars and their WAGs, including fellow scouser Steven Gerrard – is the most likely club for Roo in the betting.

A move to America would probably provide Wayne with the most home-comforts, and would see him follow in the footsteps of David Beckham, Frank Lampard and Shaun Wright-Phillips who all took their careers to the MLS.

Shanghai SIPG, 5/1

Second in the betting would see Wazza make the move to China, where a bumper payday isn’t out of the question. We make Shanghai SIPG the second favourites to nab Wazza at 5/1.

Sven-Goran Eriksson is the current manager at the Far East side, with rumours circling that the owners of the club are willing to make Rooney an offer to the tune of £500,000 per-week.

Next up in the betting is Shanghai SIPG’s rivals, Guanzhou Evergrande at 7/1.

Everton, 9/1

One for the romantics amongst us, a dramatic return to boyhood club Everton isn’t out of the question either. Could he make a return to his boyhood club? And would they want him even if he did?

Full odds:

11/4       LA Galaxy
5/1         Shanghai SIPG
7/1         Guangzhou Evergrande
9/1         Everton
10/1       Real Madrid
10/1       Jiangsu Suning
