Well done. You’ve made it through another week. More importantly, you made it through the pain of ‘Red Monday’ and are primed for another round of Hotshot Jackpot.
We’ve steered well clear of Christian Benteke, who let down over 75% of punters with his dodgy header and fluffed penalty. Here are our eight selections to send you on your way to the £250,000 prize.
LEICESTER v CRYSTAL PALACE: RIYAD MAHREZ
This week, Leicester City became the first Premier League club to ever win their first three Champions League matches. They now have more points in Europe than they do in the Premier League. Their midweek win over Copenhagen was thanks to a Mahrez volley, and with 17 goals last season, he should find the net at the King Power, where Leicester haven’t lost in 19 league games.
HULL v STOKE: JOE ALLEN
What more can I say? Joe Allen – the Welsh Pirlo – has four goals in seven league appearances for Stoke, all of which have come in his last three games. The sort of reliable bloke you want when you’re on your way to the £250k prize.
BURNLEY v EVERTON: ROMELU LUKAKU
The former Hotshot Jackpot hero upset Pep Guardiola last week, bagging a goal at the Etihad. He has 13 goals in all competitions under his belt, and should make light work of it at Turf Moor, where Burnley have won just one game in their last six.
SWANSEA v WATFORD: GYLFI SIGURDSSON
The Swans have beaten Watford just once in their last six meetings, the last time was back in February 2009. Sigurdsson is the obvious choice here, as not only does he bag goals, he also takes penalties. At the halfway point on the journey to the Jackpot, he’s your man.
WEST HAM v SUNDERLAND: MICHAIL ANTONIO
Antonio bagged a goal last time these two met in February to win The Hammers the game. He’s scored five league goals in eight appearances, and with the David Moyes effect in full flow, Sunderland should be easy pickings.
LIVERPOOL v WEST BROM: PHILIPPE COUTINHO
Did you watch Red Monday earlier this week? Of course you did. It was the biggest game to grace the planet, maybe ever. Pity about the lack of goals, mind you. Philippe Coutinho had Liverpool’s best shot of the game, and if it wasn’t for super-human David De Gea, The Reds may have walked away with bragging rights. West Brom have won just one of the last seven meetings between these two and Klopp will want to get back into winning ways.
MANCHESTER CITY v SOUTHAMPTON: CHARLIE AUSTIN
Pep Guardiola is now without a win in four games, with his defence being absolutely carved up by his former club Barcelona in the week. His lack of wins perhaps indicates that teams have worked out how to crack his back line. Step in, Charlie Austin. With four goals in his last four games, we’re backing him to land you the big bucks.
CHELSEA v MANCHESTER UNITED: ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC
Another victim of a missed chance on Monday, Zlatan should have headed Paul Pogba’s cross home. He didn’t, but with two previous goals against Chelsea as a PSG player and a point to prove, the stage is set for him at Stamford Bridge.
