According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Pep Guardiola tried to snag four Barcelona stars this summer.
Pep attempted to raid his former club for Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Neymar and Sergio Busquets.
First on his shopping list was ex-Liverpool striker Suarez. Guardiola was prepared to offer £90 million to lure him from Catalonian beaches and sangria to Heaton Park and a bottle of Frosty Jacks.
Unsurprisingly, the Uruguayan was not swayed by a move back to England and reports suggest the club are set to renew his contract.
Next up for The Blues was Lionel Messi, who has always fancied a visit to Swansea on a Monday night. A jaunt to the North of England may have seemed more like community service to Messi, who was going through a trial for tax evasion at the time.
Reports suggested that former Barcelona Vice President Ferran Soriano, who now calls the Etihad his home, attempted to attract Neymar by speaking to his Dad. This, alongside attempts from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain were unsuccessful. Like Suarez, Neymar stayed put and renewed his contract.
Last, but not least, Pep went for Sergio Busquets. After the midfielder cock-teased him earlier this year, saying he: “Owes Pep a lot and would be honoured to work with him again”, he opted to stay in Spain.
City did get Claudio Bravo from the Catalonian giants in the summer, though. He came to the club as a replacement for Joe Hart. Not quite MSN or Busquets, but you know… If you don’t ask, you don’t get.
