It seems that the closer we get to the summer, the more punters we get entering our Hall of Fame.
With Paddy’s still reeling from a Cheltenham caning one lucky UK punter decided to turn the screw on the tv races on Saturday afternoon.
Our friend placed his usual online £1 each-way 8-fold last Saturday afternoon (cost £2) and sat back to watch the action unfold from 2pm. As cool as you like, he’s walked away with a payout of just over £170,000.
Placed early this morning, this incredible punter had chose horses at Kempton, Haydock and Meydon. His stake? A pound. Three hours of racing later and he’s rolling in it.
First up is the 2:00 Handicap at Haydock- our online man has Ballybolley (a 4/1 favourite) backed. Sure enough, Daryl Jacob rides him to a comfortable win. One from eight.
Fifteen minutes later and the second race of the accumulator is on at Kempton Park. Our Channel has been picked by our punter at odds of 11/4. The gelding manages to hold off Noble Gift and leg two is up.
Next, we head back to Haydock for the 2m 6f hanidcap at 14:35. The wonderfully alliterative Petethepear storms home and something special is happening for this customer
Barsanti takes the Class 2 Handicap down at Kempton. Halfway there for our hero, who would’ve had a pretty decent cash out opportunity at this stage in the game. But he sits tight and ploughs on to Haydock at 14:50 and watches No Duffer stride clear of the pack. Five down, three to go.
The aptly named Spring Loaded leaps out from a class of 9 runners to take the 15:25 at Kempton. Two races left at Meydan now separate this punter and a life-changing payout.
Usually the word Postponed indicates bad news. And it did for Paddy Power, as the Roger Varian trained horse took down the Dubai Sheema Classic leaving just one race left in the accumulator and an anxious 40 minute wait for the customer.
The Dubai World Cup is taken by California Chrome at 5pm meaning that the braveness and balls shown by our online punter not to cash out was worth it. He took Paddy Power for a total of £170,162.73. From one pound each way.
