England’s women head to Switzerland for their final Euro 2022 warm up on Thursday night and the Lionesses should be smelling blood. Sarina Wiegman’s side are in great nick heading into this summer’s tournament and will surely fancy their chances of glory on home soil.

They’re currently Paddy’s second favourites behind Spain to lift the cup but they’re in a really good place and come here off the back of a 5-1 demolition of third-favourites The Netherlands. With Switzerland ranked as 50/1 outsiders this should be another big win for England’s women.

Over 2.5 Goals
It’s hard to see anything other than an England win here but as they’re really short we’ll focus on goals and how many they might rack up. The first thing to say is that Switzerland finished behind Belgium in Euro 2022 qualifying and England beat the Belgians 3-0 in a friendly two weeks ago.
The Swiss lost 7-0 last time out against Germany and have now gone five games without a win, losing three of those. They’ve scored three goals and shipped 14 over that run.
England, on the other hand, have won 13 of their last 11, drawing the other two, in a run that includes a 3-1 win over those aforementioned Germans. They’ve got a net aggregate of 26-2 in their last five. England should easily see us past the Over 2.5 Goals benchmark here.
Both Teams to Score? No
And I think they will need to do all the heavy lifting because of that last stat mentioned there. The Lionesses have conceded three goals in their last 13 matches, one each in games against Germany, The Netherlands and Canada – all sides vastly superior to this Swiss outfit.
Switzerland have scored three in their last five, firing three blanks and bagging against Northern Ireland and Romania in 2-2 and 1-1 draws. For further context, England thrashed Northern Ireland 5-0 three games back. Both Teams to Score? No is the way to go here.
Ellen White to Score Anytime
While friendlies can be a bit tricky to predict in terms of starting line ups, I think we’re going to see close to full strength side here with England wrapping up their preparations for Euro 2022. Ellen White, I think, is nailed on to start after missing out against The Netherlands because of Covid.
Providing she’s not been too badly affected she’ll need the minutes and could get at least 60 to get back up to speed. If you’re going to back anyone in England colours to net on Thursday it has to be their all-time top goal-getter Ellen White to Score Anytime.

Beth Mead to Score Anytime
Not only does White’s return to the fold provide a lethal goal threat but she brings a wealth of experience in the final third that will create chances for her team mates. With Beth Mead and Lauren Hemp likely to start in attack it was a toss up over who to side with.
I suspect both might benefit but I’ll plump for Beth Mead to Score Anytime. She comes into this game on the back of a brace against the Dutch and will be relishing the chance to net again and head into the Euros in the highest of confidence.
