Last time these two sides met Scotland eased to a comfortable 2-0 home win against Armenia. But since then, we’ve seen a terrible display against Ireland to make you question whether the Scottish boys are already on the beach.

It is difficult to describe how bad Scotland were on Saturday, but some of these statistics should do the trick.
Ireland had never won a Nations League game prior to the 3-0 win in Dublin and had failed to score a goal at home in their previous six attempts in the competition. In just 50 minutes they managed to outscore their all-time Nations League record of two goals, so Scotland’s performance must have been a special kind of awful.
The Scots are clearly dealing with a hangover after losing their World Cup play-off against Ukraine at the beginning of June and don’t seem too bothered by what is essentially a series of glorified friendlies. They now face a long trip to Armenia where temperatures are expected to reach at least 30 degrees and it’s difficult to see how they pick themselves up off the floor following that humiliating defeat.
Armenia gave a decent account for themselves against a far superior Ukraine side on Saturday, holding out for an hour before the floodgates eventually opened. They were also well organised in their 1-0 win over Ireland in their Nations League opener last weekend.
They are capable of getting a result against the Scots with the benefit of home advantage.
Both teams to score
Scotland didn’t look like scoring in a month of Sundays against Ireland at the weekend, with all of their chances coming via Ireland mistakes rather than any pieces of Scottish ingenuity. However, they face an Armenia side that have conceded five goals in their last two games, including two against Scotland a week ago.
Of the 15 teams competing in the second Nations League tier, only Slovenia have conceded more goals than Armenia to date.
Scotland, on the other hand, were ripped apart by an Irish team that famously doesn’t score goals and, in truth, were lucky not to lose by more. Ukraine also exploited the same weaknesses in their World Cup play-off win at the beginning of June.
Armenia have a good chance of backing up their home win over Ireland with a score draw against Scotland.

Che Adams to score anytime
Che Adams cut a lonely figure in Saturday’s defeat, barely registering a touch in a limp attacking display.
The Southampton forward has yet to score for Scotland in five appearances in 2022 after scoring a moderately impressive four international goals in 13 appearances last year.
Adams has started each of Scotland’s three international in June and is likely to feature again on Tuesday night considering the lack of depth up front.
He can break his ongoing international goalscoring duck against a poor Armenian defence.
Ryan Christie anytime assist
Scotland showed virtually no creativity against Ireland, with the Irish defenders providing them with pretty much all of their chances. That will have to change if they are to get back to winning ways.
Bournemouth’s Ryan Christie is arguably their most likely source of inspiration, although he was anonymous on Saturday save for a scything tackle on Jason Knight that drew a deserved yellow card.
Christie registered eight assists in the league for Bournemouth last season in 38 appearances, averaging 1.5 key passes per game.
He has also averaged three key passes per game in his two Nations League appearances to date and can provide the spark to unlock the Armenian defence on Tuesday.
