The Nations League – will it ever end? The mighty juggernaut rumbles on this Sunday night and there’s actually some pretty decent looking games on the cards.
The pick of the action in the late matches comes from League A Group 2 where Spain host the Czech Republic and Portugal head to Switzerland. It’s all to play for in this group, well, unless you’re the Swiss who have lost all three of their games so far.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
Portugal are top, two points clear of Spain in second who are one clear of the Czech Republic. This is a repeat of matchday 2 in the Nations League so these have played each other really recently. Hopefully that can help guide us towards the value to a Sunday night double.

Spain v Czech Republic – Spain Win & Under 2.5 Goals
TV: Premier Sports 1, 7.45pm
Spain absolutely battered the Czechs in the first group game but somehow needed a 90th minute equaliser to earn a 2-2 draw. They had 80% possession and 12 shots in total as the hosts scored from both of their attempts on target.
It was reminiscent of the Spain that we saw at the Euros with lots of pretty football but no cutting edge. That’s not always been the case though and they have scored five and four in separate games this season.
However, those results are outliers and they’ve scored 14 goals across their other 10 games this club season. I think, with home advantage, we should see Spain go one better than last time and take all three points in a low scoring game so Spain to Win and Under 2.5 Goals feels a good play.
Switzerland v Portugal – Portugal to Win to Nil
TV: Premier Sports 2, 7.45pm
Portugal pumped the Swiss 4-0 on their own turf in their first meeting in this group and their respective subsequent games show nothing to suggest a repeat isn’t on the cards. I think Portugal will win here, but maybe not by such a big margin.
The Swiss had gone seven games undefeated before losing their four most recent games across the competitions. Portugal, on the other hand, have won five of their last four, drawing the other one, and have lost once in 11 games this season.
The talent they have is frightening while is seems this solid-if-unspectacular Swiss side might have just gone over the hill. The price on Portugal to Win to Nil is too good to ignore and it’s clicked in three of their last for games.
