Despite Thursday’s North London Derby defeat, Arsenal know that Champions League qualification is still in their hands – as long as they win their remaining two Premier League games.

The first of those is away to Eddie Howe’s rejuvenated Newcastle, who are set to finish comfortably in mid-table after escaping the relegation battle with their strong form since the turn of the year.

Monday 8pm: Newcastle United v Arsenal
TV: Sky Sports Main Event & Sky Sports Premier League

THOMMO: Arsenal will be absolutely desperate for a response in this game. Mikel Arteta showed his frustrations during and after the North London Derby. It wasn’t good for Arsenal last time out, although the sending off didn’t help matters, so we didn’t get a true reflection.

Because Arsenal had been so good, they’d scored nine in their previous three games before that defeat, but it is a big defeat losing 3-0, it’s been many many years since Arsenal have lost to Tottenham by such a score.

But they’ve won seven of their last ten away games have Arsenal, and I think for them to get into the top four, this game’s going to be massive for them.

Newcastle are safe, they’ve had a great end to this season, but they lost their last two – although it was against Manchester City and Liverpool. They didn’t score in either of those games, but they’d won four on the trot before then.

Because of the importance for Arsenal, I’m going for a very tight game. I do fancy both teams to score but I think Arsenal will nick this.

For a goalscorer, I’m looking at Bukayo Saka. He’s had a wonderful season, and he’s having a good end to the season, I think this young man is looking a star.
