We’re down to the final days of the Premier League season and Liverpool must win at Southampton on Tuesday night to keep the pressure on Manchester City in the title race. The Reds will be on cloud nine after their FA Cup final success last weekend, whereas Southampton have nothing to play for heading into their final two games of the season. Here’s a Bet Builder!

Liverpool -1

West Ham presented Liverpool with a faint glimmer of hope in the Premier League title race by holding Manchester City to a 2-2 draw on Sunday and Jurgen Klopp’s side can really apply some final-day pressure if they come away from Southampton with all three points as expected.

They should have little problem doing so, despite playing a gruelling two-hour FA Cup final on Saturday evening.

Southampton are in freefall, winning just one of their last ten league games and conceding a whopping 24 goals in the process.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side can consider themselves fortunate that they accumulated 40 points relatively early in the season to avoid a relegation dogfight.

Southampton have looked like they have been on the beach since the beginning of April and Liverpool should have little trouble breezing past them to reignite the title race for the final day.

Of course, a Southampton win would officially crown City as champions with a game to spare, but considering Liverpool have not lost a league game in 2022, that is unlikely to happen on Tuesday night.

Both Teams to Score? No

Liverpool have conceded in each of their last two league games, but history tells us they are highly unlikely to concede in a third game running on Tuesday night.

The Reds have not conceded in three consecutive games in 2022 and have done so only once in the league this season during a sticky patch over the Christmas period when they conceded in four games on the bounce.

They have kept clean sheets in 10 games out of 17 since the turn of the year and have a good chance of making that 11 out of 18 against a Southampton side that has failed to score in three of their last six games.

Liverpool ran out comfortable 4-0 winners in the reverse fixture at Anfield and although they are unlikely to run up such a hammering on Tuesday, they should leave St. Mary’s completely unscathed.

Diogo Jota to Score First

Diogo Jota has enjoyed a stellar season for Liverpool, but the Portuguese forward has experienced a bit of a lull during the business end of the campaign.

Jota has failed to score in each of his last ten Liverpool appearances and has found his place in the side threatened by the arrival of Luis Diaz in January and the resurgence in form of Sadio Mane since the African Cup of Nations.

However, he still remains Liverpool’s second highest goalscorer in the league alongside Mane and has shown an eye for goal throughout the season.

Jota, who only came off the bench in Saturday’s cup final win, is likely to start on Tuesday night as Klopp looks to rotate his squad ahead of a hectic final ten days of the season.

The Portuguese forward scored twice in Liverpool’s 4-0 thumping of Southampton in November, including the game’s first goal, and he is good value to repeat the trick at St. Mary’s.

Jota has scored Liverpool’s first goal on ten separate occasions in the league this season and 14 times in all competitions.

He appears to have developed a knack for scoring early and can cause plenty of problems for a porous Southampton defence.

Sadio Mane to Have Two or More Shots on Target

Mane has been sensational since winning the AFCON with Senegal in February.

The Senegalese winger has scored five goals in his last nine Liverpool outings, including a crucial double in the FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City and a vital winner in last week’s win at Aston Villa.

Mane averages almost three shots per game in the league this season in addition to boasting an average of just over one shot on target per game.

He is good value to beat his season average at St. Mary’s on Tuesday night against a Southampton side that has conceded 178 shots on target in 36 games – the fifth-worst record in the Premier League.
