Everton are in the midst of the scrap of their lives. And when you’re in that position there’s not much better than facing a team whose Premier League status is already secured and with little to play for but pride. After an extremely credible first season in the Premier League, Brentford are exactly that team.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

Everton find themselves in 16th, two points above Leeds in the final relegation position and, crucially, with a game in hand over Jesse Marsch’s side.

A win would be a monumental step towards safety for Frank Lampard’s side. A loss could be catastrophic. And to make things even juicier, we’ve thrown a mega Bet Builder into the mix. Let’s get into it!

The Draw

Everton have taken 11 points from their last six games to ease their relegation fears somewhat, but they missed a glorious chance to move further clear of the relegation zone on Wednesday night when they slipped to a goalless draw at Watford. Victory at Vicarage Road would have moved Everton four points clear of the bottom three and all but secured their Premier League status, but they have some work to do as things stand.

Everton’s home form has been predominately responsible for their upturn in fortunes, with Frank Lampard’s side taking 10 points from their last four outings at Goodison Park.

However, they will find it difficult against a strong Brentford outfit on Sunday. They have taken 13 points from their last six games and are one of the in-form teams in the Premier League, while a top-half finish is still not beyond them.

A draw will be of some help to Everton, and they may just have to settle for one.

Ivan Toney to score anytime

Everton have kept clean sheets in three of their last four games at Goodison, but there is a strong chance that they will concede on Sunday.

Ivan Toney, who has scored 12 goals in his debut Premier League campaign, is by far the most likely Brentford player to find the back of the net, even though he is currently on a four-game scoring drought.

Toney hasn’t scored since Brentford’s 2-0 win over West Ham last month, but he still remains their most potent goalscoring threat.

Only Yoane Wissa has managed to match half of Toney’s league tally this season and if any Brentford player is going to score on Sunday, the chances are it will be Toney.

Richarlison to score anytime

Richarlison has stepped up to the plate just when Everton needed him most. The Brazilian forward has popped up with vital goals in recent games against Chelsea and Leicester, rescuing a last gasp point against the Foxes and securing a huge win over Chelsea in a narrow 1-0 win.

He also scored twice in the 3-2 defeat against relegation rivals Burnley, briefly giving Everton a crucial lead.

Richarlison has scored four of Everton’s eight goals since the return from the international break at the beginning of April, where he also scored in back-to-back games for Brazil.

His goalscoring touch will prove crucial if Everton are to survive a humiliating relegation and he can cause serious problems for Brentford on Sunday.

Everton to have five or more shots on target

Everton unsurprisingly rank among the worst teams in the Premier League in terms of shots on target this season. Lampard’s side average just 3.57 efforts on target per game this season, the fifth-worst record in the division.

However, they have improved in that area in recent weeks as they step up their bid to remain in the league.

They have managed 13 efforts on target in their last three games at a rate of almost five per game and face a Brentford side that has faced 21 shots on target in their last four away games.

Brentford have faced an average of 4.78 shots on target per game this season and it would be unsurprising to see them match that average on Sunday.
