Liverpool’s title aspirations suffered a massive blow over the weekend after their 1-1 draw with Tottenham handed Manchester City a three-point lead at the top, but the chances of that result derailing the rest of their league campaign are incredibly remote. Liverpool have dropped just six points in 2022, winning 13 games out of 16 in the calendar year.

Monday 8pm: Aston Villa v Liverpool
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Liverpool (-1)

They face an Aston Villa side that eased any lingering relegation fears with back-to-back wins over Norwich and Burnley to move well clear of the bottom three. Villa had taken just one point from the five games prior to that win over Norwich and have lost each of their last four games against top-half teams, conceding nine goals in the process.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have not dropped points against a team in the bottom half since last year. It is hard to see anything other than a comfortable Liverpool win and them passing the Liverpool (-1) handicap on Tuesday night.

Both teams to score? No

Liverpool have conceded just seven goals in their 16 league games to date this year, conceding just two goals in 12 games against sides outside the top five. Villa, on the other hand, have drawn a blank in three of their last six games, including home games against both Tottenham and Arsenal.

They might have scored five in their last two games, but Liverpool are a different prospect entirely to Burnley or Norwich. Villa put seven passed Liverpool in this fixture last season, but it would be surprising if they even managed one on Tuesday. That’s right, it’s Both Teams To Score? No next.

Luis Diaz to Score Anytime

Despite only arriving at Anfield in January, Luis Diaz is surely a candidate for signing of the season. The Colombian winger has been sensational since swapping Porto for Liverpool in the winter transfer window, scoring six times in 14 starts for the Reds.

It was his deflected goal that salvaged a point against Tottenham on Saturday night and ensured that the title race remained just about alive, while it was his goal that opened the scoring in the 4-0 rout of Manchester United last month. Diaz to Score Anytime is good value at Villa Park.

Mohamed Salah to have a shot on target in each half

While Diaz has excelled for Liverpool over the past few months, Mohamed Salah has experienced a significant dip in form. Salah has scored just two goals in his last ten Liverpool appearances, with both coming against Manchester United.

It is not for want of trying, however. Salah has attempted 57 shots on target in 30 league starts this season, by far the most of any player in the division.

Harry Kane, who has recorded the second-highest number of shots on target this season, has only managed 44. He averages 3.9 shots per league game this season and Salah is good value to register a shot on target in each half at Villa Park on Tuesday.
