What a time to be alive. You wait all year for a Bank Holiday weekend and now they seem to be coming at us from all angles. It’s going to be another belter with another packed soccer schedule to keep us entertained all the way through.

I’ll be taking a look at Friday night’s action here and we’ve got games from England, Germany, Spain and France to mull over. First up, Union Berlin continue their unlikely Champions League push against the Bundesliga’s rock bottom club Furth.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

In The Championship, Sheffield United are trying to cling to their 6th spot and the final playoff place against the free-falling QPR. Sevilla and Cadiz both needs points in La Liga while French champions Paris St-Germain start their victory lap at 6th-placed Strasbourg who have European ambitions.

Lots on the line once again as our domestic seasons across the continent begin to draw to a close. It’s another lovely, long weekend so let’s try and get it started in style with a fab Friday night four fold acca.

7.30pm: Union Berlin v Furth – Union Win & Under 2.5 Goals

Union Berlin have had a super season and they sit 6th in the Bundesliga with three to play. They host the long-relegated Greuther Furth who have picked up just 17 points from their previous 31 games.

Union are in the Bundesliga Europa Conference League spot but will be dreaming of overhauling RB Leipzig, who they beat last time out, for a top four place. They’ve four points to make up and, with them playing before everyone else, they should cut the gap to one here before Leipzig’s trip to Monchengladbach on Monday.

It took Furth 16 games to win any game in any competition this season and that came against their opponents here. That was the catalyst for some decent results but they haven’t won for 10 games now. Their defence has improved immeasurably throughout the season (three clean sheets in their last five) but they’re still not scoring have have found the net on one occasion in their last five.

The club from the capital are not massive scorers and have bagged more than two just once in their last nine. This should be a routine but low scoring home triumph so Union to Win and Under 2.5 Goals has great value to kick us off.

7.45pm: QPR v Sheffield United – Sheffield United to Win

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football

Just two games to go in The Championship and it’s QPR v Sheffield United on the telly to get our penultimate weekend underway. The R’s playoff hopes are a distant memory, they’ve won one of their last eight and are down to 10th. The Blades are in that final playoff spot with a two-point lead over Middlesbrough in 7th.

United have been falling over the finishing line a bit of late but a win here would put them five points clear of Boro with Fulham to come on the final day. Given QPR’s shambolic form, which has seen them lose eight of their last 11, I think we can keep this nice and simple and back Sheffield United to Win.

8pm: Sevilla v Cadiz – Over 2.5 Goals

TV: Premier Sports 1 and LaLigaTV

Sevilla can take a big step towards Champions League qualification with a win over Cadiz who are fighting valiantly against the drop. The home side are 3rd and six points clear of Betis in 5th while their visitors are 17th, one point above Granada in 18th and the final relegation spot.

These two have both won two, lost two and drawn one over their last five with Cadiz getting the most eye-catching result, a 1-0 win over Barcelona two games ago. Both have gone a little goal mad recently and that’s and angle we might be able to take advantage of.

In their last three Sevilla have witnessed a remarkable 16 goals, an average of 5.33 per match. They’ve scored nine and shipped seven in this time. Cadiz have been a bit more reserved with nine over their last three, slap bang on an average of three per match.

The hosts here had gone through a bit of a dull spell with lots of binary-code results but they’ve decided to have a little fun as the season draws to a close so Over 2.5 Goals looks a great price. In their last combined six matches, games involving these two have seen 4.16 goals per game and we could see something similar again.

8pm: Strasbourg v Paris St-Germain – BTTS & Over 2.5 Goals

TV: BT Sport 2

Paris St-Germain wrapped up the Ligue 1 title last weekend but even that came with a bit of a whimper as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Lens at home. With their feet up and minds on the beach the in-form Strasbourg might fancy their chances here.

They’re bearing down on a European place and are 6th, three points behind Rennes in the Europa League spot. They hit a bump in the road last time, though, losing 1-0 to Lille, their first loss in 12 games.

Given how hit and miss PSG are I think the home sight might get something here. Paddy’s traders are on board with that way of thinking and it’s all pretty even in the W-D-W market.

Both Teams to Score is a good play, Strasbourg have scored in six of their last eight, for PSG it’s seven in eight, but that’s too short so I think we can bolt on Over 2.5 goals to the selection. Though the hosts are regular but not high scoring there’s normally loads of goals when PSG take to the pitch so Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5 Goals offers good value.
