There’s some big teams in action across Europe on Sunday night, with plenty still up for grabs as we reach the business end of the season.

First we head over to Serie A, where Milan travel to Lazio as the away side find themselves in a two-horse title race with city rivals Inter. Bettering Simone Inzaghi side’s result this weekend would put AC Milan firmly top of the table, regardless of Inter’s game in hand over them, as Milan look to win their first Scudetto since 2011. Next we move to France, where Marseille are looking to strengthen their grip on the Champions League spots, as they sit second in Ligue 1.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

At 8 o’clock, Xavi’s Barcelona side kick off against Rayo Vallecano at Camp Nou. The visitors aren’t yet mathematically assured of their La Liga status next season, whilst Barca are looking to ensure they qualify for the Champions League for next year, as they conclude what’s set to be a trophy-less season. Finally, we take a look at the Portuguese Primeira Liga, where Tondela would boost their survival hopes if they beat European-place chasers Vitoria Guimaraes.

There’s plenty of footie to keep you entertained this Sunday night, so lets get into the acca…

19:45: Lazio v AC Milan – Draw & Both Teams To Score

BT Sport 1

Lazio lie seventh in the league ahead of this fixture, but know that with a victory, and if they better the results of both Roma and Fiorentina, they can climb up to fifth, and a Europa League spot. But, a win will be a tough ask against an AC Milan side who have lost just once away from home this season. They’re also the highest scorers on the road this season, having failed to net just once away from home this season – against a defensively strong Torino side. But Milan have stuttered a little recently as they battle for the title, with four draws in their last eight games.

Lazio on the other hand, you would suspect would take a draw against the strongest side AC have produced for well over ten years, after losing the reverse fixture 2-0. Maurizio Sarri’s team have found the net in all but two home games this season, and have beaten the likes of Inter & Roma at the Stadio OIimpico this season. Whilst both teams to score is a fair shout for Serie A’s second and fourth highest scorers, we think this match will be too close to call, and end up with both sides sharing the spoils.

19:45: Reims v Marseille – Marseille to win

BT Sport 2

Despite being comfortably in mid-table, Reims only have five wins at home this season. They’ve failed to beat any of the current top 8 at home, picking up just three points in those five home games (they still have three of the top eight to play). They’ve not exactly made the Stade Auguste-Delaune a difficult place to visit, and won’t be looking forward to the visit of second-placed Marseille.

Jorge Sampaoli’s men have the best away record in the league, dropping points in only six of their 16 away matches, with losses to strong outfits in the form of PSG, Lyon and Lille. In Marseille’s last 11 away matches in Ligue 1, they’ve picked up 25 points, with eight wins. We’re backing them to continue that good form on Sunday night as they look to strengthen their grip on the Champions League places against a Reims team with little left to play for this season.

20:00: Barcelona v Rayo Vallecano – Barcelona & Over 2.5 Goals

La Liga TV

This match looks like an uphill battle for Vallecano, a side who only picked up their first win of the calendar year in their last match. That victory ended a spell of 13 matches without a win, in which time they only picked up four points, as they slid down the table.

This is in stark contrast to Barcelona, who have reaped the rewards of hiring Xavi, having recovered to be well within contention to qualify for the champions league next season. Their nine wins in their last 11 matches has included scoring four goals against Atletico, Valencia, Bilbao, Osasuna and Real Madrid. So we’re backing goals in this one alongside a Barcelona win, as the Ferran Torres and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang link-up pays dividends for Barca.

20:30: Tondela v Guimaraes – Both Teams To Score

Tondela are fighting to stay up at the bottom of the Primeira Liga, but haven’t shown too many signs of pulling off an escape. Just one win in their last ten matches is relegation form. But they’ve kept the goals flowing, especially at home, where their 21 goals in 15 home league matches is the Liga’s sixth best return. Tondela have failed to score only four times at home this season – but it’s their leaky defence that leaves them facing relegation. Their 60 goals conceded in the league is the worst in Portugal’s top division.

Away from home, Vitoria Guimaraes have an expected goals return of 1.44 both for and against. On top of that, the last time these two sides met, Guimaraes ran out 5-2 winners – both sides have a goal in them, but struggle to keep it tight at the back. So we’re going for Both Teams To Score in this one.
