Friday night’s live EFL match is an all-Yorkshire affair as Huddersfield Town welcome visitors Barnsley.

It’s a massive game at both the top and bottom of the Championship. The Terriers sit third and are jostling for position in the play offs, while the Tykes are looking to pull off the great escape. Nothing but a victory will do for Barnsley, who could very well be relegated come 10pm.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

No doubt the TV cameras will be poised ready to capture those Barnsley tears, as they look set to return to League One.

Though the odds on a Barnsley relegation aren’t worth shouting about, we’ve brought out the magnifying glass to study these two teams, and come up with a four-leg Bet Builder. Lets take a look…

Friday 22 April 7.45pm: Huddersfield v Barnsley
TV: Sky Sports Football

Both Teams To Score

Barnsley are playing with nothing to lose, and this is likely to have a cup match feel about the game. As the old cliche goes, the Tykes have four cup finals ahead of them. Not only this, but the stats back it up. Barnsley have drawn a blank only twice in their last five away games, and only three times in their last eleven league games.

Huddersfield, on the other hand, have seen their defence let them down in a few games recently, conceding five in their last three home matches, and nine in their last seven games. The Terriers are always likely to score at home too, failing to do so just twice in the league this season.

Huddersfield to win

This should hardly come as a shock. Barnsley have the worst away record in the league, having picked up just eight points, with only one win, on the road this season. They also have the second-worst away goal difference in the Championship with -24.

Huddersfield need to keep momentum going into the play-offs if they’re to secure a return to the Premier League, and have won three of their last four games. Although a team fighting for survival in a local derby will be tough opposition, the 3rd placed team at home to the bottom club should only go one way.

Carlton Morris Anytime Goalscorer

Expect Barnsley to be fired up and straight out of the traps in this one, and to put the pressure on. In fact, the Reds have scored first in five of their last six games in which both teams have scored. And if there’s one man that’s got a goal in him for Barnsley, it’s Carlton Morris. He’s enjoying the best goal-scoring season of his career in England, despite playing in a team that has scored the least amount of goals this season.

The striker has bagged three of the club’s last six goals, and also netted the equaliser when these two sides shared the spoils last time they met in December. Morris also takes penalties for the Tykes, so if referee James Linington is to add to the four penalties he’s given this season, then the 26-year-old is in line to profit.

Sorba Thomas To Score Or Assist

Sorba Thomas has been a serial provider for the Terriers this season. He’s a shoo-in to play, having played a part in every game that Huddersfield have played in the league this season, with 42 starts and one substitute appearance. The Welsh international has had 14 goal involvements from midfield in those matches, leading to his four man-of-the-match awards.

You would think as the game gets stretched, the player with 11 assists this season will find the defence-splitting pass to set his striker in – which could be either Danny Ward or Jordan Rhodes, who scored last time out. At the prices you may be tempted to only back a Thomas assist, but he has popped up with a few timely goals this season, which shouldn’t be ruled out happening again.
