Manchester United’s top four hopes were dealt a massive blow midweek as their embarrassing defeat at Anfield was compounded by Arsenal’s return to winning ways at Chelsea on Wednesday. United were always expected to lose against Liverpool on Tuesday, but the nature of the defeat will have been a reality check for many United fans.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

Even when they were winning title after title and Liverpool were floundering in mediocrity, they rarely had an easy game against their bitter rivals. But, the door has not completely shut on United’s top four aspirations due to Arsenal and Tottenham’s inability to seize the initiative in the race for Europe.

Saturday 12.30pm: Arsenal v Manchester United

Arsenal to win

Defeat at the Emirates on Saturday would almost certainly spell the end for any lingering hopes United have of finishing fourth. United are without a win in their last three visits to the Emirates, while they have also lost each of their last three away games, conceding nine goals in the process.

The Gunners come into this game following back-to-back home defeats but should put that record right on Saturday with an Arsenal Win.

Both teams to score? No

Not only have United failed to win any of their last three games at the Emirates, but they have also failed to score a goal. Ralf Rangnick’s side have failed to score in four of their last nine games in all competitions and frequently look short of ideas against a competent defence.

Arsenal have rarely looked like a competent defence since the international break, conceding eight goals in four games, but they should be confident of keeping the United attack at bay on Saturday.

The Gunners have kept the joint-third-most clean sheets in the Premier League this season face a side that has drawn a blank on seven occasions in the league. It wouldn’t be surprising to see United fail to score for a third away game on the bounce on Saturday and Both Teams To Score? No.

Emile Smith Rowe to score anytime

Emile Smith Rowe capitalised on a David De Gea injury to put Arsenal ahead in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford in December and the Arsenal number 10 is a good bet to get on the scoresheet again on Saturday. Smith Rowe scored in the midweek win at Chelsea, moving him onto 10 goals for the season in all competitions.

Smith Rowe’s goal was his first since a 2-1 home win against Brentford two months ago. He has not scored in back-to-back games since scoring in wins at Leeds and Norwich over the festive period. However, he has a good chance of putting that run to an end against a porous United defence this weekend with a Smith Rowe Anytime Goal.

Bukayo Saka anytime assist

Bukayo Saka may trail Alexandre Lacazette in the assist charts this season, but no Arsenal player has created more chances than the English winger this term. Saka has created an eye-catching 63 chances in all competitions this year at a rate of 1.7 per 90 minutes, more than Martin Odegaard in second with 59.

Saka also averages 1.9 key passes per league game this season and will cause problems for a United side that has failed to keep a clean sheet in six games. He can close the gap on Lacazette on Saturday with a Saka Anytime Assist.
