CONCACAF qualifying concludes on Wednesday with all eight teams in action at the same time. We should be in for fireworks as four teams fight for three spots and a trip to Qatar. But, well, it’s not quite worked out like that.

Canada look set to finish top as they have a three point cushion with superior goal difference to the USA and Mexico who, in turn, have a three point cushion to Costa Rica in 4th and the playoff spot.
So, while it might not quite be a blockbuster finish to the North American qualifying campaign, hopefully we can finish with a flourish with my four-fold acca. These games all kick off at the same time (2.05am) on Wednesday night/Thursday morning so let’s see what’s on offer.

Costa Rica v USA – The Draw
Costa Rica are assured of a playoff spot and they have a small chance of overhauling the USA to an automatic place here. When I say small I mean absolutely minuscule.
Los Ticos need to win by six clear goals to avoid a continental playoff so I think we can pretty much disregard that. They are in good form, though, and have won five of their last six, albeit with most of those coming against the weaker teams in the confederation.
I think The Draw offers great value, especially with the away side knowing that will see them safely through. USA only won this 2-1 on home soil so with home advantage it might pay to back Costa Rica to go one better and get a result here, even if they are unlikely to win.
Jamaica v Honduras – Jamaica to Win
Jamaica and Honduras have endured disappointing campaigns with them sat 7th and 8th in the group respectively. The Reggae Boyz, especially, have been underwhelming and their only win of the campaign came against their opponents here.
Honduras are without a win so that’s just one between them in 26 matches. Jamaica did win 2-0 away from home when these two met the first time so you have to fancy them to repeat that trick again on home soil so I’ll side with the Jamaica Win here.
Mexico v El Salvador – Under 2.5 Goals
Mexico only need a point to be assured of their place at the World Cup and they will be expecting to achieve that aim quite easily against El Salvador on Thursday morning. La Selecta are eliminated and come into this game in 6th position.
Mexico won the first meeting between the two 2-0 back in October and you have to suspect something similar is on the cards here. If anything it could be even tighter.
There have been just two goals in Mexico’s last four games while El Salvador have conceded a few but have notched on just four occasions in their last six. In a game that’s lacking value in a lot of areas, Under 2.5 Goals could be a great play.
Panama v Canada – Canada to Win
Canada have done a superb job to top the group ahead of Mexico and USA and they need just a point to ensure they stay there and take continental bragging rights into the World Cup. They’ll fancy their chances against a Panama side who got pumped 5-1 by the USA last time.
The Maple Leafs will be in high spirits after an uncharacteristic 4-0 demolition of Jamaica last time out, too. It gets worse for The Canal Men as the only other time Canada scored four was in their 4-1 win over them back at the start of the campaign. No need to be funky here, Canada to Win should get the job done.
