Paddy Power football ambassador Phil Thompson has his eyes firmly fixed on the City Ground this weekend, as he tries to find some winning value when his beloved Liverpool take on Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup Quarter Finals.

After winning the Carabao Cup, Liverpool are still well in with a shot for three other competitions, with Forest standing in their way of another trip to Wembley. The Championship side have already disposed of Arsenal and Leicester at home, and squeezed past Huddersfield in the last round.

But will the visit of high-flying Liverpool be a step too far? Let’s get Thommo’s verdict.

Nottingham Forest v Liverpool, Sunday 20th March
TV: ITV 1, 6pm

Forest v Liverpool

Thommo: Go back to my playing days, and Forest were a thorn in our side. Coming out of the second-division, as it was then, winning the league title, winning two European cups. Oh my goodness, we had some battles with them, so this evokes so many memories for me!

But they’re having a wonderful season are Forest, they’re sitting eighth in the Championship with a couple of games in hand over a few teams above them. But they battered Leicester four one, they beat Arsenal, and they’re unbeaten in nine games, so this is going to be tough for Liverpool.

There’s so much confidence going through Liverpool at the moment, but do check Liverpool’s teamsheet, because there might be quite a few changes in this one. Klopp will be thinking that whatever team he puts out will be able to beat Forest.

Liverpool have won nine Premier League games on the bounce, and had a good win against Arsenal. They’ve lost only 3 of their last 55 games, thats quite a telling stat.

So I’m going for Liverpool to win this, but get this, with both teams to score, that will push it up!

And a goalscorer to add to that, I’m going for Diogo Jota, I think he will start because he came off early against Arsenal.

I’m going for a 3-1 win, I think Liverpool will have a bit too much firepower for Nottingham Forest, but, should be a great game – it should be wonderful at the City Ground!
