Manchester City -1

Crystal Palace stunned Manchester City at the Etihad in October, fully deserving their 2-0 win.

Palace have curiously lost just one of their last four games against City at the Etihad, winning two, but have failed to win any of their last seven games against them at Selhurst Park, recording one solitary point.

Palace have lost their last three home games against City by two goals, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see a similar margin on Monday night.

City appeared to be wobbling before the Manchester Derby but responded by battering Manchester United 4-1 in arguably their most convincing win ever over their neighbours.

They since played out a hugely forgettable 0-0 draw against Sporting Lisbon in a literal non-event of a Champions League second leg, so they should be well rested for this one.

Palace have taken seven points from their last three games and will cause City some problems, but it’s hard to see anything other than a comfortable City win.

Manchester City to Have Seven or More Shots on Target

Only Liverpool have registered more shots on target than Manchester City this season, registering 196 efforts on target compared to City’s 193.

City average just under seven shots on target per game and have recorded 43 in their last six league games at an average of over seven per game.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, only concede an average of four shots on target per game, but that figure is likely to increase significantly against a ravenous City outfit desperate for revenge.

Manchester City Under 0.5 Cards

Given that City dominate the ball against almost every team they face, it is somewhat unsurprising that they boast one of the best disciplinary records in the division.

Pep Guardiola’s side are ranked fourth in the Premier League fair play table, picking up 34 yellow cards and one red card in 28 games.

That red card, ironically, came in the 2-0 defeat to Palace last October when Aymeric Laporte was given his marching orders for hauling down Wilfried Zaha.

But those kinds of moments are anomalies for City.

Given their high levels of possession, City players are usually the ones being fouled rather than doing the fouling.

They have picked up a total of just four yellow cards in their last seven league games, picking up zero yellow cards in five of those games.

They are decent value to make that six card-free games in their last eight.

Both Teams to Score

Palace have found the back of the net in each of their last four games in all competitions and have failed to score at Selhurst Park on just two occasions all season.

They possess plenty of exciting attacking options and proved how dangerous they can be in a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at the end of January, creating several gilt-edged chances against City’s title rivals.

City, on the other hand, boast the best defensive record in the league – just – but have looked vulnerable in recent weeks.

Tottenham cut them open on several occasions, scoring three goals, while even hapless Manchester United and Everton sides found some joy against them.

Palace have scored 11% of all goals scored against Manchester City in the league this season and proved at the Etihad that they have the tools to hurt the champions.

City may have to score twice to secure victory on Monday.
