WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS

Here to guide you though the busy and confusing footballing maze is Niall Connolly, Emmet O’Keeffe and Sam Kingston.

The lads have cast their gaze over the Premier League as well as the EFL to offer up huge upsets, goals-a-plenty and some cracking Bet Builder punts. Brace yourself, here it comes.

Emmet O'Keeffe

Arsenal v Leicester: Both teams to score & Over 2.5 goals

Goals should be guaranteed in the late Sunday kick-off with Arsenal’s forward line playing some scintillating football of late. While Alex Lacazette only has three league goals and his finishing can frustrate the Gunners faithful, he does have seven assists and the French striker’s link play is facilitating a potent Arsenal attack with Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard.

They should expose a vulnerable Foxes defence but Leicester will carry a threat on the break with Jamie Vardy looking to continue his incredible record against Arsenal with only Wayne Rooney having netted more league goals against the North London side.

Sam Kingston

Oxford United to win at Shrewsbury

This is the time of year where the U’s tend to come good, and this year looks no different. They’ve won four of their last five and are now in a very strong position to finish in the playoff spots for a third year running.

It’s been an impressive season for them, boasting the leading xG numbers from open play, even better than high flying Rotherham.

Shrewsbury on the other hand haven’t a whole heap to play for, so anything odds against on Oxford looks like value for me here.

Niall Connolly

Chelsea v Newcastle: Both teams to score

Chelsea have got their scoring rhythm back on track in recent games since dropping Romelu Lukaku and letting the in form Kai Havertz lead their line instead.

The Blues have only failed to score in three of their 27 league games this season indicating they will certainly not be the issue here.

Meanwhile, Newcastle who have six wins and two draws in 2022 have only failed to score in five league games this season.

Chelsea, who conceded to the league’s worst attack on Thursday at Norwich, also have some key defensive injuries which may bolster Newcastle’s attack here.

Reece James, Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta may all miss out here with the hosts predicted to move to a less secure back four as a result.

Emmet O'Keeffe

Crystal Palace to beat Man City

Palace will hopefully provide the ideal pick-me-up to punters for Cheltenham on Monday evening by beating the Premier League champions.

City are not as secure a defensive proposition without their leader Ruben Dias whose six-week muscle injury could swing the title race in Liverpool’s favour.

Palace beat City at the Ethiad earlier in the season and are coming off a comprehensive win over Wolves at Molineux.

Wilfried Zaha and Michael Olise can cause City problems on the counter attack and  I’m happy to take on chance on Patrick Vieira’s men.

Sam Kingston

Aston Villa to win at West Ham & Under 2.5 goals

Aston Villa’s dip in form seems to have passed, after scoring nine in their last three without conceding, and the xG numbers will tell you it was no fluke.

It’s hard to see them so free-scoring against a West Ham side whose last three Premier League games have seen under 2.5 goals, but they are the team in better form and the Irons have a tricky European tie to overturn next Thursday, which may suggest their attention may be somewhat elsewhere.

Niall Connolly

Newcastle to win at Chelsea

As mentioned in my banker there are plenty of reasons that give Newcastle a potential edge over Chelsea.

I expect Chelsea not to be at full strength this weekend and the club’s off-field situation could also prove a distraction.

Newcastle go in to this fixture with amazing confidence and form. In fact, they have outperformed Chelsea in the league over their last eight fixtures.

Chelsea have little to play for in the League and may have an eye on their midweek Champions League second-leg against Lille. All this considered, Newcastle are a great value pick here.

Emmet O'Keeffe

Harry Kane to score anytime

Kane has five goals in his last three league matches and is rediscovering the form of last season where he was arguably the Premier League’s best player.

Kane should get plenty of chances on the counter-attack against United who will look to press high up the pitch but as has been the case throughout Ralf Rangnick’s tenure, not all of his players will be committed to that strategy.

Kane and Son Heung-Min will be licking their lips to expose Harry Maguire in a one-on-one situation with the England centre-half badly out of form.

Sam Kingston

Paul Pogba anytime assist

Over the last few weeks, Pogba has been playing in a much more advanced role in Rangnick’s side. He’s been United’s most creative player over the last six games, more than doubling his expected assist stats for the season, and chipping in with two in the last four.

Provided Cristiano Ronaldo is back for this one, the attacking threats for Pogba to feed will be enhanced, so I’d be looking to him at a bigger price than Bruno Fernandes for an anytime assist.

Niall Connolly

Tottenham to win
Over 2.5 goals

Nothing less than a win will suffice for either team. Therefore, I expect an exciting and attacking affair.

Tottenham have been electric in recent weeks having scored nine in their last two. Dejan Kulusevski has bolstered their attack even further since his arrival and Harry Kane looks to be back in prime form.

As Man Utd are the home side and coming off the back of a bad defeat, I expect they will be the ones with the majority of the possession which will suit Tottenham perfectly.

Heung-min Son and Kane who love to play on the counter, and should cause Harry Maguire and co plenty of issues this weekend. The twitter apology should make for a great read while you decide what to spend your winnings on.
