I believe F. Scott Fitzgerald would christen this tie ‘Old Money versus New Money’.
OK, so Chelsea may not actually havre ANY money anymore, but Newcastle are the new buys in town and while so far, they’ve hardly made wholesale changes to their starting XI and wider squad, they’re already riding the crest of a wave because that’s how Eddie Howe gets teams moving sometimes.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS
Sunday 2pm: Chelsea v Newcastle United
TV: Sky Sports Main Event
Going to Stamford Bridge in the middle of all the uncertainty around the Blues does feel like a chance to upset the status quo though, and given Newcastle’s recent history, it feels hilarious that anyone would consider them the stable entity at any given moment. Yet here we are.
Chelsea’s lack of a consistent XI does hurt them the odd time and while the flashes of brilliance have been there, the off-pitch drama will surely take a toll before long. Can the Magpies take advantage in a changing landscape? Can I provide you with a Bet Builder good enough to ensure you boast as many riches? Here’s my effort.

Newcastle and the Draw
Chelsea have won just two of their last seven home games. With the Tuchel revolution in full slow and needing space in which to operate without having top class ball carriers to create central space, Chelsea generally rely on players who can score from multiple angles.
They’ve been getting that lately from Ziyech, Mount and Havertz but midfield goals dry up eventually and with Romelu Lukaku more resembling a five-a-side goalkeeper with his movement than a proper number nine, I don’t fancy them to knock in enough to see off the in-form Geordies here.
Both Teams to Score
Now, have Newcastle got stout enough defensive resolve to stop Chelsea from netting? Absolutely no chance.
But that’s to be expected. I fully believe they’ll overcome that anyway given their new mental edge that’s been instilled into a squad that looked like they were already wondering how they’d sneak in the Championship playoffs next season up until about six weeks ago.

Under 4.5 Goals
This is actually a handy addition to this Bet Builder because all it’s really ruling out is a 3-3 draw or a 4-1 Newcastle win in realistic terms of this multiple.
And it does increase the price by several points in the process. For all that I believe Newcastle have turned the corner and can score goals, the last time Chelsea shipped that many at the Bridge was when Ireland’s Greatest Ever Marksman Callum Robinson netted a brace.
Joelinton to Score Anytime
Tuchel does a lot a work defensively in setting his team up for how the opposition likes to move the ball. The problem here is that, when Joelinton gets on it, nobody around him knows what he’ll do, so you can’t really prepare for it.
That’s a huge plus against learned backlines.
