Football Tips: 15/2 flutter among Thommo’s Chelsea v Liverpool Carabao Cup final wagers

Liverpool FC legend turned Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson is suited and booted ahead of the Carabao Cup final between his beloved Reds and Chelsea at Wembley at 4.30pm on Sunday. He actually turned up in full kit but, in the interests of impartiality, we politely asked him to tone it down a bit.

Liverpool are in sublime form while Chelsea have been building some momentum after a shaky spell. They’ve not been playing great but the results have been coming back and the result is all that matters in a final. Can Chelsea upset Paddy’s odds? Here’s Thommo’s definitive verdict and his Chelsea v Liverpool Carabao Cup Final tips.

It’s a fantastic game. Liverpool are on a great run and they’ve won their last nine games in all competitions. They’re the top Premier League goal scorers now after scoring three against Norwich and six against Leeds.

It seems to be all going well. Sadio Mane was back on the scoresheet, Mohamed Salah with his two penalty kicks, even two centre backs scored against Leeds United.

Chelsea aren’t playing as well as they can but they’re sneaking results and this is the makings of a good team. They got away with it last week against Crystal Palace, but I think after coming back from the World Club Championship there would have been a lot of tiredness, jetlag, everything.

I think Chelsea will be better prepared going into this game and they’ve won the last five in all competitions so there’s a little bit of confidence creeping back in here. They scored a late goal against Palace last week which was a big result.

When you score late on, that dressing room , the atmosphere changes completely. Hakim Ziyech scored that one, good left-foot finish and the defence, when Chelsea have the right head on, they are hard to break down.

There won’t be a whole host of goals in this but I think Liverpool will have too much for Chelsea. I’m predicting Liverpool to Win and Both Teams to Score. I’m going 2-1 to Liverpool because I think it will be really tight.

If you want a goal scorer for Liverpool, coming back into a bit of form is Sadio Mane. I expect Mane to Score at Anytime.
