Bet Builder Tips: This Southampton v Norwich punt clocks in at 15/1

Our footie tipster Andrew Cunneen fancies Norwich to frustrate Southampton.

I’m going to give you two dates – September 28th and November 6th.

The first date refers to the last time Southampton lost at home in the Premier League and the latter is the last time Norwich got something off a team while away from home, that wasn’t in the bottom three at the time. These teams are currently on different trajectories but when you peel back some of the sketchy outliers, it really should be slightly more hotly-contested than you’d think.

Friday 8pm: Southampton v Norwich
Sky Sports Main Event/Sky Sports Premier League

Norwich will view this game as one they need to get something out of, and with Newcastle’s game in hand not guaranteeing points yet, if they get a point here that should be a decent result.

Southampton are now doing what they always do – going on a midseason run where they have people wondering just how far they can take it, before ultimately losing in a game they should win (hint, hint) because they feel a sense of accomplishment…

Double Chance: Norwich or the Draw

Southampton are the kind of side that love possession because they’re expansive with it, but they’re ill-equipped to handle when they lose it and Norwich feed off transition wins.

If there is a game where Norwich can capitalise on a side who won’t consider them a threat but don’t possess enough ability to counter it, it’s Southampton. We’ve already seen this exact situation play out in their previous meeting.

Southampton score early to reinforce their sense of dominance over inferior opposition only to get lax and ultimately beaten.

Norwich and Southampton is the absolute dreamboat situation for taking underdogs in a double chance scenario, so feast away on overconfidence.

Both Teams to Score

It’s not that I truly believe in either side’s approach or capacity to enforce caution, it’s more the opposite. Both will be chasing goals and Norwich have no real need after this point to worry about goal difference, particularly as Newcastle’s lofty investment has propelled them to… *checks notes* fourth-bottom.

Southampton are runaway trains when it comes to scoring from all sorts of improbable angles so even a blanketed effort by Norwich wouldn’t necessarily result in a clean sheet.

Che Adams to Score Anytime

Norwich concede goals to central strikers who have quick feet. This has been the case all season long and I see no reason for this to change.

The one thing I will note is that Adams usually gets hot as the season winds down, and that appears to be the case as he’s netted three in his last six.

Teemu Pukki to Have Three or More Shots

Picture it. The glimmer of survival is slipping away. Pukki stands alone, as Norwich are 3-1 down, and is fully aware that they need a goal – only to spot that the other ten Norwich players are on the edge of their own box. He will shoot from halfway if he needs to!
