Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson has teamed up with our top football trader Jason Murphy to take a look at the biggest game on the planet this week, Paris St-Germain v Real Madrid. These two giants meet in Paris tonight in a match that could go a long way to deciding who wins the competition in May.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS

There’s a star-studded line up on the pitch and on Paddy Power News today, but only one team can triumph. Both Phil and Jason are expecting plenty of goals and both have pulled a big-priced punt out of the bag. So, let’s take a look at Jason and Thommo’s PSG v Real Madrid tips.

8pm: Paris St-Germain v Real Madrid

TV: BT Sport 3

THOMMO

This, among all the games when they were drawn out, this one really got everybody talking. It is a meaty game! I think it’s difficult, isn’t it? Both of them are sitting top of their leagues, I think it’s a really hard one to call.

But, if the big players on show turn up I can see it being a bit of a goal fest, I really can. I’ve actually gone for 3-2 to Paris St-Germain! I really think that the home advantage will play a big part.

I’m not sure if Neymar’s fit enough, but Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe played at the weekend, Mbappe scored very late on, 93rd minute, to get that 1-0 win. It’s a great game, it really is. It whets the appetite!

Real maybe rested one or two at the weekend against Villarreal. There was no Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale started up front which was quite interesting. They’re top of La Liga by four points. I still think the English teams will be top of the betting for the Champions League outright.

This PSG, sooner or later, as with Manchester City, have to click into gear and they’re both desperate to win the Champions League.

JASON

I hope Phil’s right because I’m getting the popcorn out for this, I’m sitting down and watching. There’s a few doubts over Benzema and Neymar but we just hope all these world-class players are fit. We just want to see them on the pitch.

It’s that kind of tie, when you see these two names now, this is what you want in the knockout stages of the Champions League. The music coming on, these kind of teams, these big names and these world-class players coming on to the pitch, it’s what you want to watch.

In terms of the betting I think the prices are about right, PSG are going to go off as favs because they’re at home. I’m not tempted the match betting. In terms of the outright prices, Real Madrid are about 16/1 to win the Champions League outright.

Thinking beyond today’s game, if I was fancying either of these teams to come through I’d probably side with Real Madrid. They’ve got great experience and Carlo Ancelotti is a very clever coach. At the prices I’d rather have a little punt on Real Madrid to Win the Champions League outright.

Benzema, if he’s fit, is my bet to score anytime. He’s stepped out of Cristiano Ronaldo’s shadow and has scored 82 goals in 128 La Liga games, providing 30 assists. If it wasn’t for off-the-pitch issues he’d be a World Cup winner so let’s hope he’s fit. Benzema to Score Anytime is a decent price. I’m licking my lips at this one!
