Wednesday looks like it could be a very interesting night of football. We have both Iberian leagues returning with Valencia taking on Cadiz in Spain and Sporting Lisbon looking to cut the gap on league leaders Porto at the top of the Portuguese league.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS

In Scotland we have a huge Old Firm derby where Celtic can wrestle top spot from Premiership leaders Rangers and in the Championship we have Derby travelling to Huddersfield and Barnsley entertaining Cardiff. Let’s find some value in the markets.

19.45: Barnsley v Cardiff – Cardiff Draw No Bet

Barnsley’s fate looks all-but sealed as they lie rooted to the bottom of the Championship table. They’re currently enduring a run of 11 league games without a victory and of their last five have lost four and drawn one while on home turf have lost three and drawn two, scoring just one goal and conceding six. Cardiff are having a good flirt with the relegation zone but got a great result on Sunday last beating Nottingham Forest at home.

The Bluebirds have won one of their last five in the league, drawing one and losing three while on their league outings have won one, drawn two and lost two, scoring seven and conceding 10. With the away side in decent scoring form we have to side with them here but we’re taking some insurance as a fair chunk of their away games have ended level since October. We’re taking the away side in the Draw No Bet market here.

19.45: Huddersfield v Derby – Both Teams to Score

Both sides come into this one in decent enough league shape, Huddersfield have won two of their last five, drawing the other three. However, in two of those draws they gave away their winning position in the final stages. At home it’s a similar story where they’ve won one, drawn three and lost one. In all three of those draws they drew from winning positions in the final 15 minutes.

Derby have won two of their last five in the Championship, drawing two and losing one while on their travels have won just one, drawing two and losing two, scoring five and conceding six. Huddersfield have scored seven over their last five at home, conceding seven. With the Terriers throwing away so many games of late you’d have to expect Derby to score here, particularly as the Rams have scored in all but one of their last nine in the league. Both Teams to Score then has the value here.

Wayne Rooney Derby

19.45: Celtic v Rangers – Both Teams to Score, No Draw

Both teams here are in mighty form, Celtic are unbeaten over their last 10 games in all competitions, as are Rangers. The hosts have won all five of their most recent fixtures and have won four of their last five in the Premiership, drawing the other while at Celtic Park have won all five of their most recent home league games.

Rangers have won three of their last five in all competitions, drawing the other two. They share the same record over their last five in the league and their last five away league games. Only one of the last five meetings between the sides at Celtic Park has ended level and at both grounds only one of the last 10 has ended all square. Both are in great goal-scoring form, averaging 2.04 and 2.09 goals per league game respectively and with so few draws over their league games, just eight over their combined 46 league games, we’re really liking the odds here for Both Teams to Score, No Draw.

20.00: Valencia vs Cadiz – Valencia to Win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0

Valencia’s league form had seen them plummeting down the La Liga table prior to the short international break. No doubt the time off will have allowed them to regroup and refocus. Of their last five league games they’ve won just one, drawing one and losing three. At the Estadio de Mestalla things are slightly better where they’ve won one, drawn three and lost one, scoring eight and conceding eight.

Cadiz’s La Liga form is as good as you’d expect from a side sitting in the bottom three, they’ve won one of their last five, drawing two and losing two. Their away stats are worse with just one win, one draw and three losses where they’ve scored just three and conceded nine. Valencia’s goal-scoring should stand to them here and with the Pirates struggling for goals of late we think there’s some decent value in backing a 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 win here for the hosts.

20.45: Belenenses v Sporting Lisbon – Sporting to Win to Nil

Belenenses are four points adrift at the bottom of the Primeira Liga while Sporting are now nine points behind Porto and really need the win here to keep the pressure on the league leaders. The hosts have won two and lost three of their last five at home in the league, scoring five and conceding 14. Sporting have won four and lost one of their last five on their league travels, scoring 12 and conceding four.

The hosts have scored just 11 league goals so far this season and in facing Sporting come up against the side with the stingiest defence, the Lions have conceded just 12 league goals so far this campaign. Armed with those stats we have to go with the away side to Win to Nil here.

Wednesday’s acca:

19.45: Barnsley v Cardiff – Cardiff Draw No Bet
19.45: Huddersfield v Derby – Both Teams to Score
19.45: Celtic v Rangers – Both Teams to Score, No Draw
20.00: Valencia vs Cadiz – Valencia to Win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0
20.45: Belenenses v Sporting Lisbon – Sporting to Win to Nil
