For Saturday’s African Cup of Nations games we’ve gone deep into the stats to find the best bets from the two quarter finals, which add up to a tasty double too should you fancy adding some value. First up, Gambia have a tough task ahead of them in taking on hosts, and second favourites to win the competition, Cameroon.

In the later kickoff Burkina Faso face a Tunisia side who pulled off a massive shock in eliminating Nigeria in the Last 16.

4pm: Gambia vs Cameroon – Cameroon Win & BTTS

TV: BBC Two, Sky Sports Premier League, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport Website

Gambia finished second in Group F behind Mali but were tied on seven points after winning two and drawing one. Cameroon finished top of Group A also finishing on seven points after two wins and a draw. With the advantage of being the host nation they’re obviously favourites here but we can’t dismiss Gambia as they’ve been in strong form of late.

The Scorpions have won three of their last five fixtures, drawing one and losing one, scoring four and conceding three. The Indomitable Lions, which is such a great nickname, however, have been showing even stronger form, winning seven of their last eight games in all competitions, drawing the other one and over their five most previous games have found the back of the net on 10 occasions and have conceded four.

As they’re the host nation we can also mention their home form where they’ve won all six of their most recent games, scoring 14 and conceding four with Both Teams to Score landing in four of those six.

Cameroon have the superior form then, and goal-scoring prowess too, and should advance to the next round. They rarely keep clean sheets though and Gambia’s record of getting at least one in seven of their last 10 means we’ve some decent value on our side here in backing them to get on the scoresheet as well. The Indomitable Lions to Win and Both Teams To Score has a great price here.

7pm: Burkina Faso vs Tunisia – Over 0.5 First Half Goals

TV: Sky Sports Premier League

Luck has definitely been on the side of Burkina Faso so far. After losing their opening game against Cameroon in the Group they went on to beat Cape Verde and drew with Ethiopia. In the Last 16 they put Gabon out on penalties but they’ll be pretty confident coming into this one as they know Tunisia haven’t been playing well of late.

The Stallions have won two, drawn two (winning it on pens) and lost one over their five most previous fixtures, scoring seven and conceding four. Tunisia have won two of their last five, drawing one (losing it in extra-time) and losing two. The Eagles of Carthage, yet another fantastic nickname, scored five goals over those games and conceded three (+1 extra-time goal).

The market have Tunisia as the favourites here and there’s no doubt they can be a good team. In their 10 games prior to the five mentioned above they won seven, drawing one and losing two but apart from that Nigeria match they’ve not really clicked as a unit in the competition so far. Some stats jumping out at us here are that there have been at least one First Half goal in all five of Faso’s most recent games and in two of Tunisia’s last five as well so we’re going with Over 0.5 First Half Goals here.
