Monday night sees Blackburn host Middlesbrough in the Championship as two in-form sides go head to head. Blackburn’s surprise 2-0 defeat at Hull on Wednesday was their first league defeat since early November, while Middlesbrough have won five and drawn one of their last six games.

The Draw

Blackburn’s home form has been crucial to their success this season, with Tony Mowbray’s men losing just two times in the Championship. However, they were held by Huddersfield last time out at Ewood Park and lost at Hull on Wednesday so by their standards this season, they’ve suffered a slight dip in form. To add to that, they’re also without their star man Ben Brereton Diaz, who has linked up with Chile for international duty. Middlesbrough are unbeaten in their last eight under Chris Wilder, with the ex-Sheffield United boss turning the tide at the Riverside. While both of these sides know a win will be key in the playoff picture, neither will want to lose. We’re expecting the two in-form sides to cancel each other out so we’re going with The Draw.

Darragh Lenihan to be Shown a Card

Blackburn’s Darragh Lenihan is always good for a booking. The Irish defender has already picked up eight yellow cards in 25 appearances in the Championship this season. Lenihan will likely be up against Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun and Andraz Sporar, who’s on loan from Sporting Lisbon, so he’ll have his hands full. Darragh Lenihan to be Shown a Card makes plenty of sense.

Under 2.5 Goals

We mentioned Blackburn’s superb home form, however, they have scored just once in their last three league games. As for Middlesbrough, two of their last four away games have been Under 2.5 Goals. We’re expecting a tight affair which could finish 0-0 or 1-1, especially due to Blackburn being without their 20-goal striker Brereton Diaz. Under 2.5 Goals will do us!

Away Total Corners – Over 3.5

Middlesbrough have been free flowing since Wilder took over and they’ve averaged 5.38 corners per match in the Championship this season. Expect that trend to continue as Middlesbrough look to extend their unbeaten run. Away Total Corners – Over 3.5 is a shrewd selection.
