Liverpool and Arsenal meet in their Carabao Cup semi-final second leg on Thursday night after The Gunners valiantly battled to a 0-0 in the first leg last week. They were under the cosh from the off and their cause wasn’t helped by another mad Granit Xhaka sending off in the opening 45 minutes.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

In the end they clung on for dear life against a depleted Liverpool side missing Mo Salah and Sadio Mane. However, it’s a result that keeps them in the tie and now means the second leg will be played in front of their own fans.

We’ve dialled up Paddy Power ambassador and Liverpool legend Phil Thompson to regale us with his definitive verdict on the match at The Emirates. Is he backing his boys for glory or can The Gunners make home advantage count? Here are Thommo’s Arsenal v Liverpool tips.

7.45pm: Arsenal v Liverpool

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football

It should be an entertaining match and I think both teams will go as strong as they can with whatever they have at their disposal. Hopefully Liverpool don’t leave anybody out, I don’t think they can because having three away at AFCON and Arsenal having five away.

I don’t really know who’s going to play and please do check your team sheets before placing any bets.

Arsenal have no win in their last three games in all competitions. Obviously, they were desperately disappointing against Nottingham Forest.

They got that draw against Liverpool and then Man City beat them just before that. They will feel good about it but I just think Liverpool will have too much. They’ll play into the hands of Liverpool by having to attack at The Emirates.

I do see Both Teams To Score, but Liverpool Winning this one.

It’s going to be tight but I fancy Liverpool winning  2-1 and Diogo Jota, he had a couple of great chances against Bretford, I’m going for Jota to Score Anytime.
