Thursday give us just two AFCON games to mull over as we head into the second round of fixtures. Both games come in Group A which hosts Cameroon currently top with three points from their one match so far.

They take on Ethiopia at 4pm on Thursday while it’s Cape Verde v Burkina Faso in the other game at 7pm. Cape Verde also have three points and a win for them and Cameroon would see both safely into the next round with a game to spare.
The margins are so fine for Ethiopia and Burkina Faso with, both knowing anything other than a win could already send them packing. I’ve trawled the markets to bring you a beautiful best bet that’s bursting with value for each game to hopefully pocket us some cash. Let’s take a look.
4pm: Cameroon v Ethiopia – Cameroon to Win by exactly 1 goal
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football
This is a tricky game to find value in, given just how heavy favourites the hosts are here. Cameroon beat Burkina Faso 2-1 while Ethiopia lost 1-0 to Cape Verde in the opener.
The key here could be that Cameroon have been on a great run, winning six of their seven games this season, mostly by the odd goal. There is the odd exception but three of their last four have come courtesy of a one-goal margin.
Ethiopia are the same, only one of their eight games this term have had more than a one-goal margin as the difference between the two teams, though they’ve only won two of those games.
Cameroon should win this but Ethiopia are hard to put away, with three of the four games they’ve lost this term coming by a single goal. At nice odds in a game lacking in such things, Cameroon to Win by Exactly 1 Goal could be a smart play.
7pm: Cape Verde v Burkina Faso – Burkina Faso Win & Over 2.5 Goals
TV: Sky Sports Football
To the battle to be the best of the rest behind Cameroon where Cape Verde tackle Burkina Faso. Both are in pretty good form and have lost just once each across a combined 16 games this season. Crucially for Burkina Faso that came in their first AFCON game.
The Stallions are Paddy’s favourites and, looking at the results both sides have got against their respective opponents it’s easy to see why. Burkina Faso have been mixing it with far tougher opponents this term.
I think we might be in for goals here with three of the Blue Sharks’ seven games this year having Over 2.5 Goals. For Burkina Faso it’s four in eight with, crucially, three in their last four.
I think Burkina Faso will triumph in this one to keep both their qualification hopes alive as well as the group as a whole heading into the final match day. With the goals trending upwards for them I like the look of Burkina Faso to Win and Over 2.5 Goals.
