I think what’s changed for Chelsea in the last few weeks is that the Carabao Cup is now their best chance of silverware. We saw in the last round that Thomas Tuchel picked three players from the under 23s squad but I expect against Tottenham that you’ll see a far stronger team.
He might then pick more of a kids’ team in the FA Cup this upcoming weekend. I find it a very tough game to call. Chelsea at the weekend, when they were 2-0 down to Liverpool, that was kind of the time when the players were going to show if they were going to play for Tuchel or not and as we saw by the response they clearly are.

That gives you some confidence, despite the injuries and the issue with Romelu Lukaku, that they can keep their season on track. Tottenham are clearly much improved under Antonio Conte – especially defensively they’re more organised.
All in all I think it’s quite a hard game to call so the bet I’m leaning towards is Hakim Ziyech to have 2 or More Shots on Target. The logic is simple here, he’s in the top 10 in the Premier League in terms of shots per game. I think he’ll be eager to prove a point here.
Will there be lots of goals? It’s a tough one. Up until a couple of months ago, Chelsea had the best defence in Europe and you would have had that going up against an Antonio Conte team which would all spell the look of a low-scoring game.
Since the injuries and the change of system, Chelsea’s games have been far more high scoring lately. I’d be leaning slightly towards Overs on the goals but it’s hard to call.
