Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson is lacing up his boots ahead of the midweek Carabao Cup semi-final first leg all-London affair in the shape of Chelsea v Tottenham.
It’s always a feisty match up and this one’s made spicier by the return of Antonio Conte to Stamford Bridge in the away dugout. With plenty on the line, how does Thommo see this playing out? Here’s his Chelsea v Tottenham tips.
WHEN: Wednesday, January 5 – 7.45pm TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football
These are two very attractive semi-finals. Well, they were meant to be before Arsenal v Liverpool bit the dust! Whatver way it falls it’s going to be a fantastic final. This is a wonderful one to kick us off and Antonio Conte seems to have turned it around at Spurs, doesn’t he? They’re not just playing a bit better but they’ve got the results to go with it.
Chelsea, well they’re on a good-ish run but there’s a lot of draws in there. They’ve only won four out of their last 11 in the Premier League. You’ve got the Romelu Lukaku situation which they’re having to deal with, does he start? Nobody knows.
I think I am going to come down on Chelsea to Win with this, with or without Lukaku.
Will there be changes with Chelsea? I would think Spurs want to win their first trophy in 14 years. They’ll probably go stronger than Chelsea, who still have a little bit of hope in the Premier League title race.
We know he takes penalties and that’s always a decent bet to have in there. I think those are some decent bets you might want to put in a Bet Builder. I think Chelsea will be in the final to play Liverpool!

I am going to go for a Chelsea Win in this one but Both Teams are definitely going to Score. Jorginho only came on as a sub against Liverpool in what was an absolutely enthralling contest, I think he will start and I’ll have Jorginho to Score Anytime.
