Spurs to Win

I often think that at times like this, during the festive period, the team who can afford to lose the game generally wins it. And I don’t mean disrespect the competition, nor do I mean to undermine the efforts of either team. But, generally speaking, if a team are in decent form/spirits and you give their fringe players the chance to shine while the other side are stretched and worried about the huge influx of games coming up, it goes one way.

Spurs are on a run form domestically that often acts as a springboard for Antonio Conte to create buy-in and go on a tear. It also helps that they’ve been booted off their the whistle-stop of Europe. I think Spurs will Win this.

Steven Bergwijn to Score Anytime

Spurs have a whole host of ‘good squad players’ and perhaps the most under-utilised of them all is Steven Bergwijn. He was hailed as the shrewdest bit of business when he first joined but hasn’t quite lived up to expectations.

He’s made seven appearances in the league so far but failed to find the net. This does feel like a prime chance for him though – with his speed clearly a good mismatch for Spurs on a huge pitch against the not-as-mobile-as-you’d-like-them-to-be West Ham backline. Steven Bergwijn to Score Anytime is your next pick.

Over 2.5 Goals

West Ham have tried to be slightly more conservative over their last couple of games and it’s cost them. The 0-0 draw with Burnley was a wake-up call and the hammering they took at the hands of Arsenal might well remind them that they’re at their best when they’re not thinking too much.

Spurs, for what it’s worth, have landed the overs in three of their last four Premier League games and with the added bonus of it being cup football, nobody should be keeping cards close to their chest here with Over 2.5 Goals.

Half-Time: The Draw

Cup games hang in the balance. I don’t know why, but they just do. It’s a cliché and we’ve all heard different commentators say it, but there does tend to be a soft underbelly with teams when it comes to these games.

I think it’s largely due to the fact that you have the extra cushion of extra time available to you when you’re pegged back. Given how passive Spurs can be when they do have a lead, I’d fancy them to be very much locked at the break with Half-Time: The Draw.
