Football Accumulator Tips: Our 35/1 Wednesday wager featuring Celtic, Real & PSG

Our tipster Colin Harvey goes on the hunt for some midweek action.

With Covid running riot among Premier League squads, I thought it might be refreshing to move away from the EPL and take in the sights and sounds on offer elsewhere in the glorious technicolour footballing mosaic. I’ll also be heading to Scotland. Ba dum tish.

Stitch your sides back together because it’s time to run the rule over Empoli v AC Milan in Serie A, St Mirren v Celtic in the Premiership, Lorient v Paris St-Germain over in France and, finally, Athletic Bilbao v Real Madrid in Spain.

There are some big teams in action by way of a little pre-Christmas treat for you. So, let’s see if I can find some winning punts to help you pick Paddy’s pocket.

7.45pm: Empoli v AC Milan – Empoli Win/Draw Double Chance

TV: BT Sport 1

If you’ve not been paying close attention to Serie A this season you’d probably expect this to be an easy win for AC Milan. Zlatan Ibrahimović and Co started the campaign like a runaway train but, like all runaway trains, they’ve eventually come a cropper. They’re still in 3rd and head to Empoli who are 9th one game shy of the halfway stage. As alluded to, Milan’s form has deserted them of late. It’s quite the opposite for Empoli.

In their last seven Serie A games, Milan have won two, drawn two and lost three. Empoli have won three, drawn three and lost just one. Milan are the big favourites here but at the prices, it might pay to side with the form team getting something and the other two results with the Double Chance Empoli Win/Draw.

7.45pm: St Mirren v Celtic – Celtic and Over 2.5 Goals

The Old Firm is well and truly back. Celtic and Rangers are battling it out for supremacy while dismantling the rest of the league. The reigning champions are currently seven points clear of The Bhoys as Celtic head to St Mirren on the back of a busy schedule which included their League Cup final win at the weekend.

St Mirren are down in 9th and have real relegation concerns as they approach halfway. Despite Celtic’s hectic schedule and injury problems, I think it’s pretty safe to expect them to win again. They’ve won 15 of their last 17 matches in all competitions.

The Buddies are without a win in their last nine and have only won three of their last 19 games. I’m on Celtic to Win and Over 2.5 Goals here. Overs has landed in eight of Celtic’s last 11 and there’s a good chance they’ll rack up a few here.

8pm: Lorient v Paris St-Germain – PSG to Win To Nil

TV: BT Sport 2

It’s a similar story here where Ligue 1 leaders Paris St-Germain travel to lowly Lorient looking to head into the winter break on a high. Lorient are 19th and have lost nine of their last 10 in all competitions, drawing once nine games ago. PSG, on the other hand, have lost just one of their last 14 in all competitions and that was against Manchester City in the Champions League. You have to expect a walk over here.

The value is in backing PSG to Win to Nil. France’s champions-elect have been leaky this season but they’ve kept a clean sheet in three of their last five. Lorient have only scored one goal in their last six games so this looks a great bet, especially at the price on offer.

8.30pm: Athletic Bilbao v Real Madrid – Real Win & Under 2.5 Goals

TV: Premier Sports 2 and LaLigaTV

We finish in Spain where La Liga leaders Real Madrid tackle Athletic Bilbao. Real’s ominous run of 10 wins on the bounce was halted by Cadiz on Sunday. Honestly, Cadiz got a 0-0 draw.

It’s bad news for Bilbao who can expect a reaction on Wednesday night. Athletic have been a bit ‘meh’ this season and won their first game in nine at the weekend, a 3-2 win over Betis. Real are top and Athletic are 9th.

Assuming the away side return to form then we have to be on Real to Win and Under 2.5 Goals. This has clicked in four of their last five with that Cadiz stalemate the only exception. Real are solid if unspectacular and I think they’ll win narrowly again to make their Christmas turkey taste that little bit sweeter.
