Phil Thompson is back to round off the weekend’s action with a look at both televised games in the Premier League on Sunday. First up it’s Leicester v Newcastle followed by Crystal Palace v Everton at 4.30pm.
HELLO FROM PADDY POWER NEWS!
It might not be the most exciting set of fixtures from a neutral’s perspective, but there could be some close games and plenty of drama. So, with his selections locked and loaded, here’s Thommo with his Sunday Premier League football tips.
Sunday 2pm: Leicester v Newcastle
Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
It’s a tricky one because the new-manager bounce and the four games that Eddie Howe’s been in place, they’ve won one, drawn two, lost one. Is that a good start or not?
They’ve conceded 30 goals Newcastle, there’s only Norwich who’ve conceded more at 31. So you’re seeing that they are venerable at the back to most teams. They’ve not won any of their seven away games this season so it tells you they’re not great on the road.
They’ve got the lowest possession percentage in the Premier League. But Leicester, is this the Leicester that we know? They’re trying to get back to the way they were. I do fancy Leicester to Win this one, I must admit.
It was a toss up at one point and Leicester haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last 14 Premier League games. They’ve won just one of their last six Premier League games, that was against Watford.
So, you’re wondering why I’m coming out on top for them, but I just am! With Jamie Vardy in your team you’ve always got a chance. I know that Newcastle fans will say, ‘What about Callum Wilson?’
I’m going for Both Teams To Score in this one guys. But, Leicester to Win, just, to edge it 2-1.

4.30pm: Crystal Palace v Everton
Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
We’ve all been saying how well Patrick Vieira’s team has done but they’ve lost the last three Premier League games. This is after a seven match unbeaten run where we were talking and bigging up Crystal Palace and Patrick Vieira.
They’ve won just one of their last five at Selhurst Park, have Crystal Palace. But this is Everton. As we’ve seen they beat Arsenal on that Monday night football. That was their first win in nine Premier League games, but it was a comeback.
Evertonians, you’ve got the best comeback record in the Premier League. They’ve won 10 points from losing positions and I think that’s quite something. Like I say, they did comeback against Arsenal and that was a nice few points for them.
But, this is another one of those games, as I mentioned with Leicester and Newcastle, I’m coming down just on Crystal Palace because they’re at home. I do think Crystal Palace will win with Both Teams to Score. Christian Benteke to Score Anytime as well.
