Manchester United’s late victory in Villarreal last time out ensured top spot in Group F and thus provided new manager Ralf Rangnick with an invaluable opportunity to use his squad and embed some of his tactical philosophies in a pressure-free environment. United, like every other Premier League club, face a hectic Christmas period, so it would make little sense for Rangnick to opt for the same players that have been starting in recent weeks.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
The latest football odds are on PaddyPower.com right nowThe German still needs to learn the full capabilities of his squad but will still look to maintain his winning start to life at Old Trafford against ostensibly the worst team in the group. It will also be an opportunity for United’s players to exact some revenge for their humiliating defeat in Switzerland three months ago.

Wednesday 8pm: Manchester United v Young Boys
BT Sport 2 and BT Sport Ultimate
Manchester United (-1)
There is a very different feel at Old Trafford now, though, and United are unlikely to turn in such a horrific performance against Young Boys for a second time. The Swiss champions are currently enduring the type of form that saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer handed his notice at Old Trafford, winning just two of their last 11 games in all competitions as they crashed out of the Swiss Cup and slumped to fourth in the league.
Even a much-changed United outfit should make light work of the Young Boys challenge on Wednesday night. I think they should pass the Manchester United (-1) handicap.
Both teams to score? No
There were few bets more certain than Manchester United to concede a goal in the last days of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign at Old Trafford, but United seem to have rediscovered a bit of defensive competence since the Norwegian left the helm. United were much more solid defensively against Villarreal and Chelsea under Michael Carrick, although they did have to rely on some excellent saves from David De Gea in both games.
They were less convincing in the 3-2 win over Arsenal but rallied by keeping their first home clean sheet in eight months against Crystal Palace on Sunday and rarely looked like conceding. They are unlikely to receive too stern a test from their Swiss opponents on Wednesday.
Young Boys have yet to score a goal away from home in the Champions League this season and have only scored one away goal in their Champions League history – against Valencia in a 3-1 defeat in 2018. United should look to keep a second clean sheet in-a-row for the first time since March and, therefore, Both Teams to Score? No.
Jadon Sancho to score anytime
Rangnick may be tempted to ring the changes on Wednesday night, but one first-team player that should see action is Jadon Sancho. The winger looks to finally be discovering some form after a forgettable start to life at Old Trafford, so it would make little sense to rest him on Wednesday and threaten the momentum he has been building.
Sancho scored his first Manchester United goal and first Premier League goal in recent games against Villarreal and Chelsea and has looked far more threatening since the departure of Solskjaer. He is more than capable of scoring at Old Trafford for the first time against a side that has failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 11 games, conceding 22 goals. Sancho to Score Anytime keeps us rolling on.
Donny van de Beek anytime assist
One player almost certain to start on Wednesday night is Donny van de Beek. The Dutchman was starved of first team action under Solskjaer and will be desperate to avoid a repeat under Rangnick.
Van de Beek showcased his technical abilities during an impressive 45-minute cameo at Watford and made three key passes in the 1-0 defeat to West Ham in the League Cup in September. He stands to benefit from playing under a tactically astute coach like Rangnick and can help unlock a defence with an Anytime Assist that needs no invitation to be unlocked at present.
